I think political reporters should actually ignore the guy, not go to his briefings, scheduled media events etc. After a while, he'll be chasing them!!

Tip of the iceberg. If the police keep going with it, the true extent of it will be shown. Or they might choose to ignore it to save themselves some trouble. Personally I'm against "recreational" drugs even though I don't think they are overly dangerous.

To save money in these hard times, why don't we have just one award to cover the whole gambit of whacky stuff they make in Japan, "The Best Bestist". Now, wouldn't that be so cool?

I would gladly do it. As a citizen, at some point in time, we should make real contributions to our societies and this is one of the ways we can do that.

"What about people living the high life in Saitama?".
Well Jimbob, Johnboy, Billyjoe, for those living in Saitama ... I think they come from an entirely different social strata being forced to integrate, and have an entirely different view of the Japanese world as opposed to those living Mini-Azabu, Higashi-Azabu and Shirokanedai. People who live in those 3 areas need a little extra "help" in life.

In this day and age, downing that much food is nothing to proud of, I don't care what country they are in either. And then for people to surround them and howl how great they are, it's thoroughly disgusting.
We pretend we care about the starving masses and yet we have people doing stupid things like this.

"What kind of game is this anyway ?".
It was the stupid kind of games kids play all over the world. On top of that input the "batsu" (punishment) games which are commonly played in Japan and it's easy to see this kind of outcome.

I think I have to agree with rjd jr on this one. If sync swimming can be an Olympic sport, why can't video games? It might take a few more years, but eventually I feel it will make it there.

Many Americans have a real rabid fear of the left. Does any other country take it to such extremes? If a person can provide good government (ok, we hope Barack will), what is wrong with that?

Will this really be effective? Once a person has been convinced of something and they decide to do it, do you think they'll really turn around and reconsider their actions? Also, once a person has heard this a few times in the background, it'll eventually just become background noise and the brain will filter it out.
I guess the banks are trying to make some effort to be helpful, but I don't think this will be a good idea. It would be better for ongoing eduction efforts in all areas of society.

Cleo, you might want to have a look at Wiki for the term. Seems that it is a seaweed found in Britain. Similar to, but not the same as nori. According to Wiki it is a traditional Welsh dish, that is cooked according to traditional recipes.
Seems quite silly to use the word, "laver" here as it different to nori and cooked/eaten differently as well. A Japanese using the word would confuse any Welshman. Much like some Japanese saying they eat "steak and potatoes" when they meant nikkujaga, confused the heck out of me for a while the first time I heard it.

I have met Japanese people who couldn't find many different very well known countries on a map, and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that there was a survey a few years ago that showed some Americans couldn't find Mexico. So yes, I believe Palin might have believed Africa was a country. Just because you might be a governor doesn't make you intelligent by default (just look at GW).

"A British accent is much easier, because you don’t have the ‘r’ sound like the Americans".
After reading that comment, I don't think she's very intelligent either Blackflag.
