Must be pure hell being married to a woman like that. Even back in her single "talento" days I couldn't stand her.

I don't understand the article though, her husband asks her about a call, and she says she hates it when people evade responsibility ... any connection there? I can't see it.

It just amazes me how many times this happens, it seems like every year. When are people going to learn. I guess they won't really, people being people these accidents will just go on being repeated endlessly until people are replaced by robots or something.

Pity there couldn't be a certain piece of software we could have inserted into our brains at birth that would prevent us from doing silly stuff ... like leaving a child in a locked up car during summer.

We would all be very grapeful if these silly grape comments would stop.

Anyway, back to reality, I think it would be very difficult to sell 2000 bunches of grapes. And I heard about that ... on the grapevine.

Another problem for the local police to grape-l with!! Anyway, I'm sure they'll put in a grape effort to find the people responsible.

"Why do Australians do such things?".

For example, what else do they do? You sound like the proverbial fountain of knowledge. Probably, your insights into Australia and its culture will astound us.

Why do people have to hold such stereotypes?

"But this is a brutal treatment no matter what. Leave her alone!!".

Japanese know what will happen to them if they break certain laws. I seriously doubt Japanese laws are going to change because of a few childish outbursts, "... leave her alone".

The Japanese media has been like this since when? Practically forever I would think. Pretty much the same as the tabloid press in other countries. Get people to stop buying the trashy gossip newspapers, stop watching the gossip variety and current affairs shows and things might change. But it is the basic consumer here that reads and watches them, so I doubt if anything is going to change soon. Japan is in need of cultural change but it won't happen till the greater majority want it to happen, till then you'll just have to live with it.

    Was brandishing two kitchen knives?

Well, the police ought to stay clear of any wannabe Miyamoto Musashis in future if they don't want to get hurt!!

Bad jokes aside, pity the police were injured while doing their jobs.

Japanese health insurance (which I view as one part of health care) certainly isn't very good if you are self-employed. Unlike those employed at companies where the company will 50%, the self-employed here pay the monthly contribution by themselves. It's like the self-employed are penalised through no fault of their own.

But as for the services provided by Japanese doctors, dentists etc., I can't find any reason to complain (other than some minor stuff).

"All in all, how many times have you been actually affected by these "crimes" in Japan?".

I've never been affected by any crime in my home country either.

I tend to agree with Marius here, crime might be lower in here (i.e. Japan) but the Japanese certainly have a habit of repeating what they are told and end up believing it.

Anyway, it's a shocking crime, must be a nightmare to have your own mother turn on you like that.

Luckily, I have no problems in my house. After many years of a strict training regime, my wife is fully capable of indentifying, targetting and terminating any cockroach threat that pentrates our house's outer defences.

It was tough work, but after ignoring her screams for countless years, "There's a cockroach here, come and kill it", she finally developed enough spine to whip out whatever flat heavy object is nearby to deal with them. Now, she can dispose of their bodies quite easily.

It was well worth the effort, let me tell you!!

Shikoko is that little island off Honshu, isn't it? Probably built like Alcatraz!!!!!!! I think he busted out there, had a look around, saw he couldn't get off that island and came up with another brilliant idea ... "Maybe the food in that joint wasn't so bad ....". And he finds his way back :)

"The weapon of choice in Japan is a fast moving train".

I actually talked to a Japanese psychiatrist about this a while ago and he said that preferred method here is hanging. Suicide by train apparently is seen as a cheap method of getting back at society (causing inconvenience to others, i.e. by delaying their movements) for some percieved wrong.

Anyway, I think this guy was just out for some attention. He could have killed himself quite easily with those knives. But instead he rams his car into a place that has people inside with the ability to save him (first aid knowledge/equipment and ability to contact hospitals and/or paramedics very quickly).

And ramming the steps of all places!! Seems like he really wasn't good on the idea side of things either.

Hehe she ran off with the kids, hardly sounds like something terrible has happened. Considering what has happend to some Japanese celebrities in the past with their crimes/midemeanors, I'm not surprised. But she was embarrassed to the extreme though when she does resurface.

Running off over something relatively minor is just going to make it so much worse when she returns. The amount of apologising she'll have to do will keep her busy for a long, long time.

With a silly offensive comment like this ... I wouldn't be surprised.

"Nagasaka has worked for Fuji as an announcer since 1990, and has a reputable track record – some even say that for any sports event or competition, “Japan always wins when he holds the microphone.” But a Fuji TV source admitted he had the tendency to go overboard once he starts drinking".

Seems to be quite a contradiction there. Reputable -vs- admitted had the tendency to go overboard once he starts drinking.

A bit of common sense on both sides probably would have been a better idea.

Putting something into someone's mouth is just plain stupid for various reasons (not the least of which would be hygiene). And the boy could have had a few manners and tried to hide the yawn(s).
