Well, M3M3M3, I have used Air Asia a lot for flights within South East Asia over the last few years and they have always been on time with new planes and perfectly good service. Of course you pay for any extras like meals and check in baggage but I travel light and for short flights the food is not important. Thus I never pay for any extras and my last flight earlier this month from Penang to Bangkok cost 6,000 yen. There is nothing wrong with Air Asia. Why pay more?

Did he have a show on the US military radio station (FEN) in the late 80s or early 90s? I used to listen to FEN when I was a kid (means to learn English) and I seem to remember the name.

He definitely had a show in the mid 80's on FEN. Used to listen to FEN quite often in those days. Still have a tape somehere of the show when Karma Chameleon by Culture Club was Number One!

Just talked to my brother who lives in Bangkok. The latest talk is that the curfew will last for 3 days but who knows.

All the main bar areas in Bangkok will be closed tonight.

Unfortunately saw this on twitter already.

'The Good Wife' may just be the best drama on TV right now.

You can live in a decent place for around 75,000 yen

In Tokyo? You must have an interesting definition of decent.

No it's not too late. The British warship is coming even later.

Wrong, HMS Daring has already docked in Cebu.

You won't hardly see any television shows from outside Japan that are subbed rather than dubbed.

You obviously don't have cable TV. Most shows are shown in subtitled versions (and dubbed versions too).

Definitely one of the greats although for many the lovely sound of Paul Desmond's Alto was perhaps the most appealing aspect of the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Listened to "Jazz Impressions of Japan" this morning. That is a beautiful album I would recommend to everyone here.

Single men don't live as long as married ones

Scrote, it just doesn't seem as long.

Went to Rick's in Casablanca a couple of years ago, excellent club that really evokes the movie. Very interesting walk from downtown through the medina to reach it.

The Uk does not need any new nuclear power plants to meet its demand. They can buy power from the French. I don't think there are even any British owned power companies left?

Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) are still British owned.

It is for this reason that a prostitute will often forbid her customer from kissing her. She sees sexual intercourse as mechanical and detached but draws the line at kissing due to its highly charged, emotional and personal nature

Certainly not true in Asia where the emphasis is on 'the girlfriend experience'.

If we take gold=3pts silver=2pts bronze=1pt, would that mean Japan (66 pts) had more success than South Korea (62 pts) this time around

No, because all that counts is the official medal table. GB finished 3rd, South Korea 5th and Japan 11th.

I used to ride on a track with some of those keirin guys. In a sprint, they will blow anyone away - never seen anything like them

Not been watching the British cycling team then?

Sir Chris Hoy won Gold in the mens keirin and Kazunari Watanabe finished 11th.

What a pleasant surprise it would be as a man to come across them on a hot day in Tokyo!

I too would like to come across them.

And good on Japan for being 3rd in the medal standings.

9th actually (using the official table where number of golds count first).

This is not a ranking for normal people; i have only ever met one person in Tokyo who spent more than 130,000 a month on rent

Everyone I know in Tokyo spends more than 130,000 yen per month in rent. Most pay twice this amount or more. I assume you are a student.
