Yamauchi was quoted as telling police that he was aware of the fact that the girl was under the legal age of 18 at the time.

Since when has the legal age in Japan been 18? Have they recently changed it? Everyone knows Japanese girls are indulging much, much younger than that - I would have thought 13 was considered normal here?

Good riddance LDP rubbish. You've almost destroyed Japan and it's reputation internationally. It will take years for the Democratic Party to even start rectifying the problems in Japan. Record unemployment, millions of pension records "lost", atrocious relations with neighbouring Asian countries, an economy that will possibly never improve, the list goes on. Don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out, losers.

You are misunderstanding. They are not talking about old traditional cassette tape Walkman but talking about MP3 Player (Digital Walkman). All the MP3/Music Players from Sony is Walkman. 'Walkman' is a one of the brand name of from Sony.

I'm not misunderstanding - Walkman is one of Sony's many brandnames. I had a cassette walkman in the 80s, in the 90s a CD Walkman, and early 00s a MD Walkman. I hope Sony go on to crush the popularity of Apple iphones and MP3 players - Sony seems to be a much better run and cutting edge co. than apple. I reckon Apple has peaked already and is on the slide.....

I'm with bqaudry. If you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse (not that some of these girls make it difficult!) fair enough. But to go out of your way to film is crossing the line.

Good to see the old Walkman make a shock comeback! I still remember mine from the 80s. Looks like Apple is on the slide, apparently they have all sorts of glitches and problems in the iPhone they didn't bother to fix before releasing them. I wouldn't be going near them for at least 3 more years when they have updated a few times and made it better.

It seems some Americans are now denying that the President has a mandate to implement the Universal Health-Care Plan, even though he romped home in the election. Working-class slobs don't deserve health care anyway - neither do their children. Those infants should go out and get a job so they can afford their operations!

    Obama out! Obama out!

My question is this: will all the meat from the dolphin kill get onto the dinner table, or will authorities/slaughtermen have to create a market for it like whale meat? Is there really a big market out there for dolphin meat? Or is it simply a case of letting these villagers do the kill "because it is their tradition and right".

BTW, calling them "fishermen" is incorrect - Dolphins are actually mammals (Check Wikipedia). Perhaps something was lost in translation of the article?

As soon as O’Barry arrived, he was stopped for questioning by several plainclothes police officers, who demanded his crew members show their passports.

Man, this sounds like one of the most redneck, racist towns on planet earth! It seems to have the freedom of movement of North Korea.

I think you are all jealous of Mr. James because he is popular with women. All the women want a handshake with him. Me too.

Ooooh, yeah, LoveUSA. I think you - and all straight women here - want more than a "firm handshake" from Mr. Jim James... Wink-wink...

Jim James has now replaced Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp as the most sought after foreign man amongst the Japanese ladies... Damn him! Why don't they bring back Donald MacDonald, the Hamburgler and Grimace?

Japan really should run some sort of school programme to stop bullies and bullying. That old saying "the nail which sticks up must be hammered down" seems appropriate: from what I have heard, any kid with a slight difference in schools in Japan is mercilessly "beaten down" so as to conform to the "normal". Unless kids are seen to be identical in every way to their peers, be it clothes, music, family background, hairstyle - they will be attacked. It is killing off the few kids Japan has. RIP to these girls.

Should read "PM-elect Hatoyama"... or is there something we don't know about to happen? Is Ozawa going to come in within the next week or two when the LDP gathers to choose their PM, work the numbers, and become PM? Wouldn't surprise me with the fickle state of politics here!

Anyway, good riddance to the bad rubbish that was Aso. Mountain Pigeon could NOT be worse.

It does not surprise me that Japanese teenage boys did this.

I agree with other posters, homeless people here have pride in themselves and what little they have, so this cowardly, gutless act is all the more sickening. Many Japanese even deny that there are any homeless in Japan, or pretend not to see any. Good luck to this poor bloke, wish I could help him out a bit.

What is she "half" of? Half human? Half robot? Half a person? Half-wit?

Only someone living in the past, where one could use terms freely such as "half-caste", "full-blood", would use these terms in 2009. Or...the Japanese!

No-one in the world is 100 percent of any "race", so "half"/"haafu" is a completely stupid term.

BTW, she is Japanese (incidentally of a mixed ancestry), not "haafu". Beautiful, too.
