@ TigermothII - the Iranians and their Ambassador have been expelled mate. And credit to your mob for doing so - they are just awful.

Yes - thankfully they have - and let's hope these low grubs are never invited back!

Try telling that to the right-wingers here. They seem to think these harmless, miniscule-rating Korean dramas are somehow damaging Japanese culture! Bunch of germs at the protest - I'm sure everyone agrees about that!

The Iranian regime - and their tea-towel wearing "spiritual leader " / Ayotollah grub and his ilk are pathetic. Let's all hope the long-suffering and downtrodden Iranian people one day rise up and destroy the germs running the show there.

Keep up with technology, mate - get yourself to Yamada Denki tomorrow and invest in a little gadget called a remote. They are pretty useful for changing channels.

Dunno - you'd have to ask the Japanese that - they just love Korean dramas!

The mob here just don't seem healthy and spritely like, say, the British so-called royals. I think old Akihito needs a long break - make the other family members do more. Better still - the public should be allowed to elect an Emperor/Empress/Figurehead to do these ceremonial chores.

@ Ivan ha ha! I'm sure the Takeshi fanatics would insist he was "holding up a mirror to society"; that his repertoire with the plastic hammer is "cutting edge"; that he is the best political/social observer in Japan. I'm with you...hand me the rope!

I agree with tmarie. It is true Japanese men love foreign women, especially Chinese and Filipinas, but yes also western ladies - especially blonde ladies with blue eyes. But usually they are just too shy to approach them. Perhaps your best tactic, KathyStefani, is to approach them yourself? I used to work with a British lady who used to approach salarymen at conbinis and izakaya as she had a "thing" for Japanese men too. Dunno if she was too successful long term but she had many flings with them. Win-win.

@ Zichi - I remember working with some poor guys even as late as the mid/late 90s suffering with this awful disease in Sydney - in a country which has always had world-leading AIDS treatment. Hope they made it through. Problem is the developers of the drug treatments/drug companies are not too concerned with who gets their drugs - just whether they can cough up the massive dollars or not - hence hundreds of thousands in poor nations like India and African countries still dying.

Jackass penguins dressed up in Xmas gear? Wouldn't surprise me to see a Polar Bear at the Asahiyama zoo donning a Santa Suit on JTs pic of the day tomorrow - all in the name of Kawaii Ku-risu-masu!
Agreed with Smith - this just re-inforces the notion of wild/exotic animals as being objects for us to toy with. If society MUST have zoos - make them reserves with space for the poor creatures to move around in.

I really hope Mr. Webber can step it up next year - his likely final season. He was trounced by Mr. Vettel this year - no shame in that as Vettel is "The New Schumacher"© - but he should have recorded a few more wins than just this consolation. I hope Mr.Kobayashi can somehow get himself into a decent car and challenge for podiums - he and Sato have done a lot to dispel that myth in some circles that Japanese can't physically handle F1. It's nonsense of course. Give the kiddie a Ferrari gig I say - he'd kill it!
