Wow - crazy stuff. Of all world cultures, I would say the Chinese and Japanese care for and respect their elders more than most. In my opinion, old fogies are often valued much more than kids here, unfortunately! Those crazies are talkin' smack again. Nothing a bit of good ol' waterboarding wouldn't sort out...

A real gulf in class between Asia's best team - and Europe's finest. Barca barely got out of second gear yet won easily. I'm certain they would happily give away their win, however, if Villa was fine again. Absolute disaster for the club - I'm sure most of their fans back in Spain are unimpressed they had to travel to the far east for a relatively meaningless tournament and lose one of their key players. They could now potentially risk some silverware in Europe as a result.

I reckon Santos will win the final - the Barca players will be told not to go hard in tackles and risk losing a Messi or an Adriano.

He should have posed next to that new statue of a "comfort girl" outside the J embassy. Korea is always portraying themselves as "victims". I know, I lived there for 6 years!

    Bitter much, OsakaT?

@ 602miko - it is easy for us to say that, having not lived through war. I never understood when I was a kid why my grand-dad had a hatred and illogical contempt for Germans. Sure - he had fought them and some of his mates been kllled - but I thought he was living in the past and should have gotten over it by now. He even refused to call a dog a "German" Shepherd! Years later, I understood that I couldn't judge his views as I had not walked in his shoes all those years ago. You can't just erase history - memories are surprisingly long.

@ tmarie - mostly agree. But I reckon in all these East Asian nations, there will always exist a core of extreme-rightists wanting to stir and provoke their (remarkably) similar counterparts across the sea/border. Even 500 years from now probably!

I will be in the Tokyo Marathon 2016, is the best city in the world.

Good luck to ya - hope you win! In my mind Kyoto beats Tokyo hands down in just about everything though ;-)

gosh that was a long long time ago, world war 2, already erased in history, face the fact now its new era.... nonsence korea nonsence.

Are you prepared to go down to Hiroshima and Nagasaki next August and tell the locals the same thing? "It's a long time ago WW2, people, get over it, it's erased from history...". Try it and see what reception you get! LOL

The Kashiwa lads played well - but true class prevailed in the end. Top teams put away those chances like Kashiwa had at the end. That Neymar played real good - only a matter of time before he hits the big time in Europe. Would be nice to see that Al-Sad mob give Barca a real fright tonight in the other Semi.

If the Japanese media (and others posting here) are going to continue using the ridiculous euphemism "comfort women" in this issue - then they should also use the term "comfort children" - because, make no mistake, many of those used for sex by the Japanese military were children. Fact.

Ha ha! Good luck with that - those shrine festival things are controlled by the yakuza, they participate in the floats, food-selling - the lot. I'm sure there are very dodgy people in any photo involving a festival in Japan! Why not just paint one of those black bars over his eyes? lol

@ SouthSakai - I see where you are coming from. It's cool your dad helped sort things out. But don't you think it may have been better to stand up for yourself? Even if these boys were big brutes, you could have fought dirty, which is what my old man always taught me to do against bulliers. Throw rocks, punch to the throat, eye-gouge, kick to the 'nads, he told me...anything - the point being, dads are not always going to be there to protect you at every moment.

What is an elderly bloke doing anyway as the father of an elementary school kid? Bit old, ne? I hope the monster is locked up - for at least a decade.

Finders keepers. Sorry, Obama - but if you send up drones over foreign airspace and then they fail and crash (American tech lol), expect the nations they have fallen on to keep them. No brainer. Not that I endorse the mad Mullahs and general scum running Iran, just being realistic.

As Smith reckons, there is a strong possibility TEPCO will do the old Japanese business "brown paper bag trick" to "encourage" the fishermen to agree to this proposal. Let'l all hope the government just knocks the idea on the head - you are not getting off this easily, TEPCO grubs!

The company said, however, human health should not be affected even after eating sea food caught in the area for every day for one year.

Sure - everyone in Japan believes what comes out of these TEPCO jerks mouths!

That was real good of the Barca players - if it brought a few smiles to the kids for a while, they have done a wonderful thing.

Obviously this manager needs a white cane and a seeing-eye dog. Those two "goals" were clearly offside and the officials made the right calls. How about blaming your own garbage players, Mr. Maaloul?

Just forfeit and go home already. What is the point of playing to an empty stadium with only some ground-staff in attendance?
