Early on, the company ran out of full radiation suits, forcing workers to create improvised versions of items such as nylon booties they were supposed to pull over their shoes.

And amazingly, this is the biggest Power Company in Asia, and one of Japans' richest corporations. Does ANYONE out there have confidence that this mob - who evidently have no training in disasters and radiation management - can rectify this unprecedented problem?

Luckily, I don't need to fork out the airfare to visit Chernobyl: Dai-Ichi is just 60kms down the road!

Good on you sqwak - not many people in Japan - or other modern societies - stand up for the defenceless any more.

The Americans are doing a wonderful job, true professionals - and all the media talk about some Japanese wanting them out of Okinawa etc is all but gone now.

Rest in Peace, little boy. Let's all hope the awful cowards who did this get a sentence comparable to say, a corporate criminal in Japan. ie at least 20 years in the slammer. But I am seriously worried they will only get 5 or 10 years. I find myself asking again: Who is looking after the children?

To reduce the fuel queues behind this car - they should bring over Lance Armstrong to man the bicycle-pump!

The Japanese government, in doing this, has shown that tens of thousands of their citizens have been exposed to life-endangering radiation. Will they admit this is the question?

I agree with cricky - the French and Americans MUST be paid to come in and take over this mess - heck, pay them $Billions - it is now very obvious the Japanese cannot manage nuclear energy, and the crises that it causes.

    Where are the Japanese robots

The Japanese robots are doing all the important stuff like "dancing" on stages, bowing, and wheeling bentos out to old people in nursing homes.

They should not rebuild there - it is simply too dangerous. Make a memorial, and the citizens should all move away to other cities and towns.

On the other hand, some foreign media have tended to sensationalize their reporting because it’s what they do to get their viewers’ attention. That is not good.

Sure - And the Japanese media would never stoop to those levels, would they, Yoshito? No sensationalism in Japan, just a foreign thing...

At least they are (relatively) honest compared to Aussie cabbies. Get in a cab in Sydney and the guy will do a few loops of the city before taking you where you want to go! However, with GPS nowadays there is zero excuse for cabbies getting "lost".

This is awful, RIP to the cop just doing his job. But, doesn't this kind of thing happen in every city in the USA daily? IMO - the cops should have set the attack dogs on the scum hanging around after the heinous crime. No loss.

If you stay away from dreadful places like Strawberry Cones or Pizza Hut, you can usually avoid the ridiculous toppings. Many "Italian Style" restaurants here make great pizza as it should be - simple with 2 or 3 toppings only - and delicious!
