It's not a shock anymore to see businessmen sleeping in meetings.

I've never seen anyone in the UK or Australia sleeping in meeting.

Alcohol combined with long working hours, of course, is a great leveler, but cannot be blamed for many of these cases. Too much noise at home? Stress? More research is needed.

I've always had a suspicion that the diet of (some) Japanese has something to do with their lethargy and tiredness - but I'm no nutritionist.

Cool! I will put this on my "to do" list of Japan and take my overseas visitors there next time we are in Osaka.

“And here is the chemist’s road,” he adds euphemistically.

I guess this means the place where the local junkies can score a hit?

My university students even sleep during their exams.

I met a lass once who told me that her hobby was 'sleeping'. Despite her looks, a duller conversation could not be had; a similar experience to that of the author with his student.

Dunno about that - maybe you could suggest that you pursue this hobby together with her - much more fun!

I just found out she is of African-American, Jewish, Filipino and White ancestry. Sure makes for a nice mix!

I'm so releasing a DVD where blondes will be featured saying 'Daddy' in 500 different ways. Hey, I thought of it first, so don't even try to copy my idea, k?

It may just be popular here - but will only appeal to the Japanese fan-base if those blondes are elementary school age...

Together, Japan can take the 2nd place back all over again.

Why is there a necessity for Japan to "retake the No.2 spot"? Lost pride? GDP per person is almost 10 times higher in Japan than China, and there is no comparison in living standards. Japan will keep slipping down - this is irreversible - but the living standard is the more important thing.

Ha ha! - there are probably a few 12 year old girls that could throw these guys out of the ring, too!

    minimumweight title ????

Yep - literally the lightest weight division. These guys weighed in at 47.4kg for the fight! Many elementary school girls are heavier! Kind of like the "Midget fight club".

This guy has to go. Mubarak should leave with some dignity, before he is swinging from a balcony ala Mussolini! It seems the "Winds of Change" are sweeping across the mid-east - which country will rise up next?

Interesting list there, some good airlines I agree, Knowledge. Some questionable (Aeroflot?!) Anyway, I will give you my list :

1 Singapore 2 Virgin Atlantic 3. Cathay Pacific 4. JAL 5. BA 6. ANA 7. Thai 8. QANTAS (I dont recommend JETSTAR!) 9. KA 10. Asiana These are all nice airlines to fly. Asian airlines have the best service (and hostesses), in my opinion. I have never flown with Aeroflot, so I shouldn't make nasty comments about what I've heard about them!

Knowledge - I've flown with Korean, and guess what? They were fine. None of this "damaged KA" you are talking about. I've also flown with JAL - and they were fine too but quite expensive. And guess what? They are bankrupt and unless the tie-up with American Airlines (and possibly British Airlines) helps them - they will just be a relic of an airline in a few years. Woeful, woeful japanese management ran that good airline into the ground. Enjoy flying with American Airlines, buddy!

Risking 10 years "at the Emperors pleasure" for a measly 300,000 yen is a ridiculous risk. 300,000 will get you nowhere these days. This guy is likely extremely unintelligent.

Some men do stupid things, and that's all there is to it.

Sarge - I've done some very, very stupid things in my time - on the drink especially - but I'm pretty sure I've never exposed myself on a train like this policeman! Where do they get these turkeys from?
