With all this money now, I hope Darvish knows how to handle more greenbacks than could fill a swimming pool. He used to love getting on the punt in Pachinko parlors whilst in High School - and there will be many more temptations like that in the States. Hope he has a good team of advisors and managers running the show.

    @hatsoff:

And while I'm at it, these cops should get the sac

I dunno about getting the sac just yet - but they should definitely grow a pair and stop tooling around.

Being a pro-sportsman in The States, being married and faithful would have been impossible anyway for Mr.Darvish. He can now play the field (pun intended). Good luck to the kids - I hope he sends them a Xmas card or something once a year.

For some reason whenever I read of this case, I can't get this KIng Missile classic song out of my head:

Rest in Peace. It is an extreme sport - that's for sure and certain - with massive risks for these adrenaline junkies. At least she went out doing what she loved most.

Where on earth do they recruit these turkeys from? As for Osaka - I happen to like the joint and the working-class people they have there - (very cheap place to visit too!) but I know a great many Japanese who are actually quite prejudiced against the place and Kansai people. Their cops seem pretty ordinary though...

I understand the Americans want stability here for once, so would support anyone right now. But I just can't see bumbling Noda lasting much longer. He seems to have no clue with regards to choosing competent Ministers. My money is on a replacement PM in June - agreed with gogogo.

it can can be a life or death issue if you need a transfusion quickly

So - you are lying there unconscious after an accident - and the doctors are going to ask you your blood type? Ummm...they don't need to buddy! I know my type - but in 2012 it just aint necessary. Starsigns are actually more accurate - pretty much everyone I know has no correlation to the above stated blood type characteristics!

Good for Asia that we have Japan on rank 19, us Aussies only 2 spots back, and South Korea in 30. 3 good and rising Asian confed. teams ready to fight and challenge the traditional "superpowers"! We then have our Asian brothers Iraq in pos. 73 and the Chinese boys in 74. Pick your games up, fellow Asians!

@ Alistair Carnell - that is awful, and potentially tragic for your neighbours' girl. That the police are powerless to act speaks volumes about the problems with the system here. It's not only a Japan thing either - you see mentally deranged people menacing others on the streets of Sydney, for example. Hope things turn out OK.

It would be really "regrettable" if this mentally unstable creep somehow ended up on the tracks before an oncoming train one night...

Poor boy - I hope he recovers - but I really doubt he will ever recover from an attack so outrageous in it's violence and shock.

As for the disgusting individual who cowardly attacked a defenceless child - lock her up in a solitary dark and silent room in a straight-jacket for at least 40 years, where she can kill or attack any more kids. No one will miss her.

proves you that when Kei want's it-he can smash anyone.

I agree beating Ebden is good - Ebden is a solid, promising Aussie player of the future - but only ranked 94 and I would have been shocked if Kei didn't finish him off. Let's see him play a big gun and then we will assess his chances.

The real talk of the Open though is all about this young Canadian kid Raonic. He demolished Petzschner today and some pundits are saying he can go all the way. Keep your eyes out for "The Missile" Raonic - a 4th round match-up with Djokovic looks on the cards. Would be nice to see Raonic and Kei make the 2nd week - the business end of the Open.

I remember reading somewhere that the Japanese basically got the obsession with blood type from the Prussians, who influenced their medical system late 19th century. A bunch of medical terminology is still in German here - heck those Prussians even inspired the Japanese school uniforms we still see! I don't think Germans give a hoot anymore about blood type, but it remained a popular thing here (and Koreans too according to my Korean friend). Personally I reckon it's about as accurate as starsigns. Almost no Japanese has ever correctly guessed my blood type! (Type O-)

When Japanese ask me what my blood type is , I always reply "HIV-positive". Get's em every time...

I bet most commonwealth countries wouldnt care if England states it cant defend them.

I dont think Britain would ever state that they are able to defend Commonwealth nations. Some Cth nations have bigger armies than Britain now. Britain is NOT a colonial power and has not been for a very long time.

The bottom line is the people of the Falklands wish to remain British and have no interest in tying themselves to Argentina. The Republic needs to try and sort out it's decaying economy before they can talk themselves up to a nation like Britain. Could make for an interesting soccer/rugby game if things escalate though!

Look at that ONE protester. And he is wearing clothing by Uniqulo

It is exactly this attitude of never speaking out or condemning what is wrong, that has gotten Japan in the problems she is in now. Exactly what have YOU done to make things better - except insulting people's clothing?

@ ihope2eatwhales - what are you hoping to do next? "I hope to eat sushi?" "I hope to use chopsticks?" Kindly let us know - I'm sure it will be very challenging and exciting just like your bizarre, never-ending quest to purchase whale meat from the supermarket..
