The fact is, Kan would have been ousted regardless of the triple disasters. He has had his go - time for the turn of the revolving door that is the hilarious farce of Japanese politics. Another no-hoper will be installed - and will only last 6 months - guaranteed. Japanese "democracy"...ha ha ha ha ha!

I'm sorry, but I find this hard to believe.

Bear in mind many of these people have been unable to work, have to care for their families - and have bills, loans etc to pay. With a few hundred thousand people, I don't think ALL creditors are kind enough to waive all debts.
Also, some of them want to go out occasionally to restaurants and cinemas to break the mind-numbing boredom of their present conditions. Every little bit helps - Bless these donors!

You are right Mayuki - but I wished everyone a Merry Christmas on here last year and got flamed by some non-Christians if I recall!

By that statement , I mean it is uncommon for friends to abandon other friends in situations like this and the Oshio case...there is no likely risk of arrest.

Not necessarily. These drugs are illegal in most countries (if not all) - however in some places ie Aus. UK, incidents like this are rare - in relation to the amount of users anyway. The police do not get involved (usually) in situations where friends call an ambulance for their buddy who has overdosed. It saves lives. Not that I am defending these 3 people - I am hoping for some serious prison time for all of them. Rest in Peace to the poor girl.

Permission shouldnt be needed. Euthanise them - any farmer who does not agree and wants his animals to continue suffering should either a/ return to the zone to feed and take care of them or b/ be charged with animal abuse. (however this is possibly not a crime in Japan?)

Not at all. Just fed up with people who are always on the attack - even in a humanitarian situation like this they will find a way to insult people.

Wow - lots of religious (American) conservatives on here. Yes - it is possible to have a female leader. Yes - it is possible for leaders not to be married.
Some of my best friends in Australia, those with the most solid relationships, are not married. Been together for almost 20 years some of them. Good luck to Julia - a PM shaking up the conservatives and their traditional, boring "family values". All power to her! Proud to have her as my PM.

Cleo and Yubaru - as an animal lover myself, that would be a perfect solution. However, this is Japan, and we all know they WONT be released/cared for. The residents are not allowed to pick up their pets. These animals are all going to die - unless you guys want to risk arrest by breaking in and feeding them? I'm afraid the ONLY humane solution is to shoot them all to prevent suffering.

No one really cares about the intelligence/cuteness etc. of these pets in these grime times. People discussing their qualities and merits here are wasting their time. They are ALL going to die a slow and very painful death - and the one in the photo is already suffering.
Do the humane thing Japan - like the Russians did - send in the troops and shoot them all before they die in agony. I am certain everyone agrees.

Whether they have died of radiation poisoning - or more likely of starvation and lack of water - it was an awful way to go. The Russians at least sent the troops in to shoot all the animals and pets in their 30km Chernobyl zone. It would have been humane if the Self-Defence Forces did the same here.

There is a possibility - I admit a small one - that a super-wealthy American X-Japan fan has snapped up the piano. I hope it's true - that cash would be a real shot in the arm for the Tohoku relief campaign.
