Nishikori is a decent player, I think he lacks the pure power to break into the top 5 and/or win a slam though.

I see what you are saying - he doesn't rely on a giant serve or height - but people said the same about Michael Chang, too . He went out and shocked the world with a slam - why not Nishikori?

I see a bright future for tennis in Japan with the lead of this youngster, Nishikori. If he makes the second week like he did in the US Open 4 years ago then that is a huge achievement. Japanese kids in every village and town will soon be picking up racquets, throwing away their baseball mitts and soccer balls, and swarming all over the tennis courts! Will Japan and China be the future kings of tennis? Time will tell...

If any of these three end up going on a book tour like Peter Bethune did in his native NZ - the Aussie govt. must collect all of their profits to pay off their debt to the taxpayer. Watson should be banned from any revenue made from (any possible) book...

As an aside, let's all hope the whalers are staying outside the Aussie territories of World-Heritage listed Macquarie Island.

    @ SouthSakai:

At around Y100 a can or a few yens more

Please tell me the name of this beer and the shop I can get it in. I will be there tonight. Seriously I have never seen any beer in Japan for 100 yen or a few yen more. (unless it is one of those tiny 100mL cans).

All we can do now is hope that the company that operates the crushed stone facility is bankrupted. Small consolation though for the 200 projects built with the contaminated materials - unfortunately, they cannot be "de-contaminated". They all have to be demolished now. There's more of your taxes gone, people.

The price of beer is expensive? You got to e kidding right. At around Y100 a can or a few yens more, c'mon beer is not expensive here

Umm - I think you my be talking about "beer-like" beverages. You aint getting Japanese beer in Japan for 100yen! Japanese whisky and shochu on the other hand is cheap enough for homeless even...

What's expensive in Japan and domestic public transportation and Pizza!

BUT the pizza in Japan is the BEST because it is usually topped with mayo and corn. You pay for what you get and it's world 's best.

He definitely has the best name for a candidate : "Huntsman for President" has a strong ring to it. Where I come from, a Huntsman is a bloody big spider! As an aside, looks like them mormon mob have gone on a push to grab control of the free world, no?

there's also some things you cant even compare price on because you can only get that level of service or infrastructure etc in Japan, whether it because other countries are years or decade behind or just don't get it.

That's right - like the Japanese rice which is apparently 700% better than the Japonica rice from California! Jokes aside, I know what you are saying. I love getting my morning croissant put in 3 different plastic bags here and getting the bow. Wouldn't get that back home.

Overall, I'd say living in London is more expensive for me than Tokyo.

Having lived in London and Sydney before Japan, have to agree with hatsoff. As for fruit and veges being way overpriced in Japan - blame the government (both LDP and DPJ) for protecting an industry that should by rights be dead it is so inefficient and uncompetitive. To be honest, my only "overpriced" gripe is proper domestic beer - ie Yebisu and Premium Malts. What's up with charging almost 300 yen a can for this beer? I love the stuff but not at that price!

I have a feeling that we are going to see this written in a few days: "I was drunk at the time, but I don't remeber hitting anything."

I have a suspicion we may also hear "What I did was regrettable and unfortunate."

Hope those college kids are OK. Also hope they catch the garbage who did it and jail them for a long, long time.

I have ridden with my friend in his Subaru B4 also on back roads @ over 160kph.

I have taken mine all the way to 180

Well, I have taken my mama-chari to 30 going downhill with dodgy brakes. So there.

Rest in Peace. These guys and girls are hardcore - speedway on bitumen with no brakes is madness in my books. In the UK and Aussie it is only raced on dirt...

Good luck to her - I hope she does play on until 50. She gives hope to all people in or past their mid-30s that you can still compete at sports!
