This young part time worker may have been told what to do once or twice, but it's nothing like the full on training that bank staff get. If that training is thorough enough, most will do as instructed but anything less than that and people tend to act instinctively. This young man's instincts reflect well on his character, and I hope his company show appreciation.

That's ludicrous... His job is a Convenience Store CLERK, NOT a Policeman...

Thank you for proving my point... A complete lack of any common-sense.

When someone brandishes a weapon and demands money, You As a STORE Clerk, your only responsibility is for your SAFETY, and after that's assured, your next responsibility is to alert the Authorities... I.E... CALL THE POLICE... PERIOD... You're NOT in the military, you're NOT a Cop, You're a store CLERK...

    Pretty simple common-sense stuff!

100,000 yen says he gets a suspended sentence! No actual jail time!

OMG, so sad.... I really hope she was looking both ways, before crossing, and that she wasn't killed because of this Japanese, "Righteous" Mentality, which is sooooooo prevalent, Where all common-sense goes out the window, for this perpetual state of "Ganko." But she was too innocent to have picked up on any of that yet.

God Rest her soul, Rest in Peace little one...

Child Abuse is SYSTEMIC in EVERY country

I wouldn't know about EVERY COUNTRY!

But I can tell you, young man, it's a systemic problem HERE in Japan, it's something that has been passed down, generation by generation, ESPECIALLY with the putting of hands on children's heads, it is exclusively a Japanese problem!

who was alone with Kairi at the time of the incident which caused her injuries. He admitted to the charge and said he shook his daughter because she wouldn’t stop crying.

Unbelievable... This is a Systemic problem in Japan... I don't know what it is, about this fascination with putting hands on a child's head, or in this case, shaking violently, but it's systemic. I can't tell you how many times in public I've watched Japanese, always the father, put their hands on a child's head, in some kind of authoritative or controlling manner, pulling, yanking, pushing, or striking... Unbelievable..

Not three days did I watch a father, grab and yank around his 3-year daughter, trying to control her movements... Next time I will personally intervene by putting my hands on that father!

The 33-year-old could have been jailed for up to 20 years on the original charges.

That's ridiculous, there's NO WAY he would have got anything more than 1 or 2 years, and probably just probation.

Murders in California only get 5 - 7 years.

I guess they mean, 'THEORETICALLY,' he could have received that kind of sentence.

I will take a swipe at California's laws and judicial system (or any country's, city's, county's, state's laws / judicial systems are being wasted)

How much money are they going to or have they wasted on bringing this case to trial...? When California has MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH Bigger Crime problems to deal with... They could have taken care of this case in 2 days, if they applied half an ounce of common sense, and just booted the guy from the country and banned him from ever re-entering the U.S., Instead they wasted 7 months and thousands and thousands of dollars in tax payer money (when California is broke Big Time!).

This is just as much a waste of government resources as using JCops to harrass pedestrians and bicycle riders, while turning a blind eye to organized crime.... Shame on you California!

Nationalist jailed for hate campaign against firm that used S Korean actress in ads

Ah~ The good Old Misleading Headline... This case actually has NOTHING at all to do with South Korea, or any other foreign country (so don't start jumping for joy over perceived anti-discrimination laws)

JT knows better than this, this is a pure Propaganda Shock headline, The story deals only with a group of men barging into an office and posting an unflattering video (I'm sure Japan is the only country you would get jail time) Unless you are threatening to come in guns blazing, the cops in western countries wouldn't touch it.

    Bravo JT!

Japan’s Kazuya Kaneda swam a championship record of one minute 51.01

    Yea, but he didn't win...

I knew there was something in this story about Japan, somewhere... Why do all these stories about other countries always have to have something good about Japan, or they won't print them, unless it's bad news, they will print, murder, rape and robbery stories about Americans all day.

Can't you just once, print a story about something good about another country, any country, pick a country, and don't include something about Japan..? Is that possible..?

“I would tell you that if the roles were reversed, Americans would want American firms leading the way,” said John Raymont, president and CEO of Kurion. “For companies that have the special know-how that is transferable, the doors are open.”

Yes, and he's absolutely right... BUT....

AND there's a few very very very big exceptions you have to take into consideration, First of ALL Japan has been a closed closed closed, 100% tariff country on a whole spectrum of imports for the last 70 years, while on the other hand, the U.S. (Albeit because of greedy capitalist) have gave Japan (and every other country) Free reign over selling any product they wanted to in America.... Now Time to Grow up Japan, You got your own way for the last 70 Years, now time to face up and play fair like an adult, no more kiddie games!

Am not sure why it happened the Japanese soldiers turned into animals no worse. Most Japanese know what happened and it makes us sick.

Seriously..? Do you really think most Japanese actually know what happened, or rather, heard a rumor of some Chinese propaganda..? I'm sure most Japanese people have heard about Nanking, but they consider it just part of Chinese propaganda, and don't believe it.

But can you blame them...? The Japanese Government, for years has covered up, and white-washed over any historical past that made the Japanese out to be anything, but innocent victims of the war.

You should know that, if you are really from Okinawa..? Your JN Government a few years ago (and every so often still does) Tried to cover up the fact that many Okinawan's were forced (By Japanese Troops) to jump to their deaths off of cliffs, during the battle of Okinawa.

Fined by who? Since when does the USA think it has the right to say how Japanese banks do their business?

You're absolutely right... But you're missing one big piece of information, If they want to do business in the U.S (which is the biggest Financial market in the world, by far) So to answer your question, yes, Bank of M Tokyo can just tell the U.S. to buzz off, but then they would lose the right to do business in the U.S. Pretty Simple.

But agree with WilliB, the common Chinese should look within their own borders first to see the atrocities committed by the government that commands them. Of course with all the brainwashing, this is going to be nigh on impossible.

Sure their OWN Government has committed plenty of crimes against its OWN people, but that's NOT what this article is about, the issue is Japan coming clean, Not the Chinese government about its internal affairs.

The Japanese politicians and right-wing mouth pieces are literally pouring salt into open wounds in China, that's probably the biggest reason that China is making such a big deal about Senkaku. Japan has managed to make China believe it hasn't learned one single thing since WW2, China takes Senkaku as another swipe at Nanking and iit's people by the imperial army.

This is why learning REAL history is so damn important!

Too Bad, you were associate to a Murder, You will be charged with Murder!

    Had to be foreigners.

They are ALL JAPANESE Citizens, "second and third generation returnees from China." They are descendants of people that immigrated to Japan after the war. They walk, look and quack like normal Japanese people, the only way that a normal Japanese person might be able to distinguish them from any other Japanese citizen, is by their last name.

There's a whole list of last names they gave out to foreigners, and pretty much, nearly every natural Japanese citizen is versed in what the names on this list sound like, or the phonetics begin or end with.

Anyone really surprised..? A Private security firm..? You mean, that immigrations doesn't even have their own security people, jcops or the like..? They hire rent-a-cops...? Who by law, cannot carry any weapons, even asp's or pepper spray, to defend themselves... Good decision making...!

At least none of the Immigration people (or the rent-a-cops) got hurt, that's probably the only good thing to come out of this story!

Footage posted on the Internet shows the mask of civility soon slipping, as the men let out a volley of racist abuse at a city official.

Don't feel alone, they do it to everyone that's NOT a True Blooded Japanese National, of course much less in Tokyo, where a larger percentage of people were educated abroad, and have more well rounded views, and information on Japan, Not just what granddad, or the old man down the street told them , when they were 7 years old.

If you don't believe how rampant it actually is, you're living in a dream world.

If there's any country in the world today, that owes literally everything to the kindness and generosity of it's neighbors, what they did, and more importantly, what they didn't do, it's Japan. Germany may have some fringe groups that carry on like this, but they are just that, a small small minority. In Japan, it's probably closer to 50-percent, if not more.
