Sorry, I didn't mean whites are boring. I myself am one of course. I just meant that people who have a problem with ethnic diversity always have the option of moving somewhere more homogeneous and congruent with their own ethnicity. And yes, seeing only Japanese (or ainu) in Hokkaido for months and months on end is enough to make you smile when you meet a foreigner with native English skills.

I don't feel like you are a rascist at all. I don't know you at all other thaqn what you post. What I do see is that you and I have different views on immigration to the US. I'll agree with you that there is a problem with illegals coming into the country. Although I favor continuing to try to boost the economies of our southern neighbors, I think we can not stimulate every economy in the Americas. I agree that we have to pursue other methods to curb illegal immigration. What I disagree with you about is how the ones here are treated. There are currently 15-20 million illegals in this country by most estimates. Some studies show that these people make up 60% of our service industry or more. These immigrants have become an indispensible part of our workforce, have established many roots, and are not going anywhere according to this article. So what needs to be done? I believe McCain was on the right track with some form of amnesty for the productive ones with jobs. I have no problem providing the very basic human needs for people that work. I resent lazy people who exploit our welfare system (which needs major reform). I don't see our country become divided or Balkanized at all. In fact, I believe the primary reason that our country has continued to be as strong as it is is the immigration to our country. True, many of these people have poor educations in their poor countries and have trouble learning a foreign language, but that doesn't mean they're unintelligent. Their kids perform well on standardized testing given the opportunity. You may really roll your eyes when you read this, but I believe in educating the minorities in this country. Instead of being born into middle or upper class white family, what if you were the smart kid born to hispanic immigrants? Or the descendent of slaves who were denied education or literacy for almost 400 years? Were were your great-great grandparents from? Mine were from all over Europe. And I'm sure they faced all kinds of people that tried to keep them down or thought they were taking a slice of their pie. Sorry I rambled on so long.

So do you dispute my definition of nation? I'm not particularly interested how you define a nation.
Do you dispute my claim that most of the Mexicans entering illegally are receiving the benefits of our government's social programs? If you mean the education system, free medical clinics, then no. If you mean welfare, social security, disability, then yes (I work for these agencies, so spare me your uninformed opinions).
Do you dispute my claim that there has been a recent influx of Mexicans entering the U.S. illegally? Are you still in that group of people that call all Spanish speakers in the US 'Mexicans?' Please allow me to educate you that Mexico's economy has grown by leaps and bounds and their GDP is in the top 15 in the world. The vast majority of illegal immigrants in the US are from South and Central American countries.
Do you dispute my claim that most of the recent influx of Mexicans identify with and celebrate their Mexican nationality and, in fact, denegrate the U.S. nation? I'd say most people celebrate their nationality and Mexicans are no exceptions. Most of the ones I know (we have a lot in my home state) are kind, considerate hard working people thankful for any job. Maybe you are privy to disparaging remarks that others aren't, but I'd guess it's more likely your imagination.
Do you dispute that there have been Mexican immigrants in the past who have become part of the U.S. nation? No. Duh.
Do you dispute that many of the 2nd and 3rd generation of the recent illegal immigrants from Mexico haven't assimilated or even attempted to? Yes. By 3rd generation, close to 100% speak English with an American accent but still can speak Spanish as it is the preferred language in their parents or grandparents home.

I'll have to start charging you something to explain such common sense things to you in the future.

This is why the recent influx of Mexicans is a serious threat to our nation. Most of the Mexicans who've been entering illegally don't desire to be a part of the nation of the U.S. - they want the benefits, but remain committed to their Mexican nationality.
There are many Mexican immigrants from past generations who became citizens, learned the common language, and have truly become part of the nation. However, the recent influx are actually antagonistic toward the U.S. nation - even after the 2nd and 3rd generations (I suspect our welfare state has contributed to this). Many appear to have no desire to assimilate or make any effort to do so.
Can you truly not see how slanted and bigoted this prior post is? I understand that some people are never able to overcome the fundamentals they are taught as children, but you'll have to try and view yourself in a different light if you want to have intelligent discourse with me.

I'll have to agree w/adaydream on this one. Reading through undecided and sdmsec's prior posts, they definitely come off sounding like some whites I know. But I also understand where they are coming from. Being from a southern state, i have had to fight hard to remove racial thoughts from situations where they were irrelavent, which is sometimes hard to do. Fortunately, in America, most of the people who think like this are from semi-affluent to affluent backgrounds or from some really backward locals (see the kid who is suing his school system to wear the flag of the confederacy b/c "I'm proud of my heritage.")

There will be over 200 million white people in the US by 2042. If you don't like being a minority where you live, move to Wyoming or Vermont, where the white population approaches 100%. Of course, the boredom and lack of diversity factor also approaches 100%.

Wow, the Olympics can sure make some people's blood boil on this site. BTW, I am American and am not at all offended by the Princess' comments and think her English is adorable. And what has Cleo ever done to anyone? I would truly appreciate it if some of my countrymen would not pretend to be the spokesperson for 300 million people, thank you very much. That was a really thrilling come from behind 4x100 relay. It was particularly enjoyable after those disparaging comments from the French team. I guess some people just need to talk themselves up before a big race.
