Prison seems an unlikely punishment. But maybe they could jail him until he pays a hefty fine.
Maybe the judge could award all profits of the film to the Taiji fishermen who were filmed without their permission.

Such as destruction of property:
He violated the law, but so did the Taiji fishermen who were not adhering to mandated methods of killing dolphins.
Punish them all.

Miki Ando, 21. Belarusian Nikolai Morozov, 33.
They are celebrities. If she does not want the public prying into her private life, let her quit figure skating at the Olympics. That would be a positive development.
I think that guy looks cold as ice and a skater is an idiot to become romantically involved with an icicle coach. She deserves to be jeered at the Olympics.

You're just repeating the nonsense spread by bigoted tennis people who think people like Serena should "know their place". There was no threat whatsoever, and yet that gets repeated over and over.
This is all the more reason to think that the outrageous call was made as a last resort, in order to ensure that Serena could not win.
The line judge was desperately looking for something and she had to resort to this unprecedentedly incompetent call.
Yes, we can easily see.

Nothing has been said about who the girl is, so who cares what she was doing?
The girl and her ex-husband are not even identified in the story. Unbelievable. Maybe in the future no one will be identified in news stories.

Low-income bachelors victims of widening 'sex gap'?
Well, yes for them it's getting harder and harder to fill in the gap, but that alone is not enough.

I did not think she was arrogant at all. The line judge struck me as an arrogant and cowardly too, the way she ran to the referee with her cock and bull story, how supposedly Serena was threatening her.
Sure, Serena was angry, but who wouldn't be after such an extraordinarily "incompetent" call at a crucial point in an important match. Even so, she looked quite cute waving that racket around and clenching the ball.

Oh, well golly, that is solid proof that the match was not fixed. Maybe the line judge decided on her own to make an outrageous unprecedented horrific call that would put Serena at a big disadvantage and very likely upset her.
Wonderful, but the lineswoman owes everyone an apology too, and should publicly urge that Serena not be punished. For, as you say, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Let her admit clearly that she was wrong too.
Looking at the video, we see Serena angrily using profanity. Big deal. Frankly, tennis could use a little more on-court excitement like that. Those judges are too pompous and smug. How pathetic the way the lineswoman ran over to the referee like that, bawling about a temper tantrum directed at her when she well deserved the harsh words.

It could be, as you suggest or assume, that the scale of dolphin hunting in Taiji is not great enough to allow viable compliance with the law.
This would get back to my own earlier assumption that the plans for a slaughterhouse indicated an intention to bring Taiji to a point where compliance was viable.
The opponents (such as Yamashita the assembly member) saw that only as an attempt to expand production, but it could be related to the economic reality of dolphin hunting in Taiji being threatened by legislation requiring that particular methods be employed.
However, the current debate doesn't even touch on the Taiji violation of existing law, because the activists are opposed to all dolphin killing, regardless of legal compliance.
Still, it is not necessary for one to take sides in that debate. It's possible to view objectively both the inconsistencies of the activists, and the failure of the fishermen to adhere to the law.

The conduct of the line judge was also inappropriate and unprofessional. That was an unprecedented bad call. Way over the top. No wonder Serena was upset. Looks like the match was fixed. What a disgrace. And now they will divert attention to Serena's tantrum. But they're not fooling everyone with this.

If there was something incorrect, why don't you straighten it out then? But in my post I cited the sources referred to, which was the Japan Times.
I've not opposed dolphin hunting; to the contrary, I pointed out hypocrisies of activists. And in the last post I merely pointed out that
(1)Taiji is the only place in Japan using engaged in dolphin drive hunting and Taiji kills only a small percent of the total Japan kill.
(2) Taiji has been violating the ban on killing dolphins with spears, knives, etc (as depicted in the Cove), for the government restricts killing to a specific technique of "driving a metal pin into the neck".
Are you suggesting that this is the reason Taiji fishermen ignored the government restrictions on method of killing? It's too expensive to kill dolphins using the mandated method?

You're right about that! Your other points too, spot on! Reading Bruce Sallan's essays makes me feel like he is writing for the public what he should be telling only to a close friend, or a counsellor.
Another thing, when he speaks of his first marriage, he makes it seems as though it failed because of his relations with the in-laws, and he now concentrates on relations with the new in-laws. Did no one ever tell him that marriages fail because of relations with your partner? Or did he merely, out of discretion, wish to leave his former wife out of the discussion? Anyway, bad relations with in-laws is unfortunate, but not a cause of divorce. Good relations are helpful, but not a guarantee of marital bliss.
Often, relations with in-laws is just a reflection of the marital relationship. Bickering and fighting between partners is not conducive to a good relationship with the in-laws.
Bruce Sallan, my friend, you were wrong then and you have been wrong about almost everything you wrote about. But good luck to you. Be sure to let us know how it works out, in another essay next year.
