Often I see people waiting on a long line for their "fast food". That is a puzzling scenario.

Anyone who needs to control children by hitting them is out of control themselves and should not have children at all. These are violent individuals who should never be trusted.
People who opposes this law should be banned from having children.

People dumb enough to take a job with low pay that depends on tips do not deserve to be tipped. The best way to protest the system is to never tip.

Auntplum, I agree.
Can a clerk or salesman in a store freely take pictures of customers he thinks is cute? Of course not, even when safety is not an issue.
JR has rules that outlaw what the driver did. The driver knows those rules. He should be fired, end of story.
But most likely he will be "punished" by being made to clean toilets for a while. Then the pervert will be back driving trains.
Interesting they do not even disclose the driver's name. Sure, he is an immature idiot, but is he a minor? Why are they protecting him? Who is his father? Those are the questions...

No one should be taking pictures of others without permission, let alone an idiot that is supposed to be driving a speeding train. Highly unlikely that this is the first time he did it. More likely it is the first time the women got mad enough to report him.
However, I'm sure he will be a better train driver after his week of toilet cleaning has passed.

This is just further evidence that Prime Minister Aso was right to say that poor people should not get married and have children. And they should not waste what little money they have on cars, either. If this man had followed the Prime Minister's advice, he would not have been stabbed by an ungrateful wretched spoiled brat. Let this be a lesson to poor guys everywhere: owning a car and a wife is not the road to happiness.

They will make the driver clean toilets for a week.
Too bad the driver deleted the photos, though, because they would be a big hit.

The point is the reporter is only thoughtlessly repeating what the police said. Any decent journalist would have inquired, and relayed the information in the story. As it is, we just have the ridiculous suggestion that someone who is breathing normally, but not responding to insertion of catheter, is "feigning death". Quite possibly, the guy actually fainted, or at most was suspected of feigning unconsciousness.

This ideoology is for poor people, who should not even be getting married in the first place, according to the Prime Minister. Wealthy people, when they get married, don't need to listen to the advice of those less fortunate than them.

Maybe some people are speculating too much, to make up for what is not in the news article. I wonder why it is necessary to guess what happened. We won't know what happened unless a competent reporter tells us, but by tomorrow this reporter will be cranking out some other sketch of tragedy for you to wonder about.

fusedentropy,
Article states:
How could they know he was pretending to be dead? is what I was asking. In this news there is not even a hint of how they knew he was faking being unconscious, let alone that he was faking death.

I agree with the posters who noted that this is a terrible article, and that the author only succeeds in embarrassing himself. Jesse Veverka does a bangup job of proving that his documentary is shallow and ill-conceived, and that the shrine director made was wise to kick him out.
What exactly is Jesse attempting to accomplish?
Apparently, Jesse was going to ask people at the shrine why they think it is important. Later in his article he tells the director of the shrine that he believes the importance is "overblown":
Yet Jesse cannot even tell us how this would fit into his documentary, which is
Since Japan is
Well, Jesse is apparently going to ask visitors at the shrine if they are worried about Chinese resentment, even though he himself thinks the Yasukuni shrine controversy is "overblown".
Very poorly thought out. I didn't even think it was worth saying so, but was moved by the kindness of others who did take the trouble to comment. Jesse is lucky he only got kicked out of a shrine. With writing like this, it is a wonder he has not been kicked out of school as well.

Isn't it a bit dramatic to headline "Man feigns death" when the evidence is that he was only feigning unconsciousness?

Yes, exactly. And yet some people *not only read them, but take the time to compare how Westerners and Japanese differ in their style of boring other people! *But... **is observing the difference between two groups of boring people any more interesting than the bores themselves? **I doubt it.
onewrldoneppl:
You seem to think that those who believe bloggers are boring people are in reality themselves the boring people. **Well, why not give us some examples of exciting bloggers, and tell us why you think they are interesting? **Actually, this kind of question might be more fruitful than the cliched cultural comparison of Western and Japanese, even to the point of dissecting different nuances of narcissism, egotism and the universal urge to bore other people to death.

I have absolutely no idea of the difference between Western and Japanese bloggers, because I have never bothered to read any of them, for I assumed they would be boring. And judging by the comments here, that was a pretty good assumption. So thank you all for not enticing me to change my habits!
