Look, I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but with the superb photo editing abilities of software nowadays, who says they didn't photoshop it?

Pawatan - "I take it you don't spend much time camping, Cleo. Mountain Lion territory is basically the entire American West. Mountain Lions (as the article, not me, said) are not aggressive and are very rarely seen. They aren't lions like African lions. It's not irresponsible at all, and literally millions of people go camping in "Lion Country" every year."
Well said! And as someone else mentioned earlier, the lion was starving, so it was desperate to get something in its stomach, regardless of what type of animal (yea humans are animals too) it was.
And so what if he wasn't in an established campsite? Since when do you need amenities to go camping? There is nothing wrong at all for picking a spot out in the middle of the woods to pitch a tent for a couple days. People do it all the time, especially in that region of the US (Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, etc.). A very good friend of mine camps throught out Montana all the time (he lives there) and camps wherever, not to mention its Grizzly country there too. Its called Backpacking and being a real human connected with nature. Sorry if I seem overly abrasive, I just get really irritated when people blow things out of proportion.

Cleo- "He did well to protect his family, but it might have been better if he hadn't taken his family into lion country in the first place." Really? You're going to ding him for taking his family into the OUTDOORS? Where DANGEROUS animals actually LIVE? Lets all just stay indoors and away from all those nasty things and never experience what its really like to be human.
And another thing to everyone, where at in the story does it say he was protecting his family? Let me help you out on this one, it doesn't. So quit saying that "he protected his family".
