George W. Bush liberated how many Muslims?

Let's think of this, how many people are no longer alive because of his actions? The only good thing that he has done, was to be so bad, that we'd look for a hope in either woman or black president.

Moderator: Readers, please stay on topic. George W Bush is not relevant to this discussion.

I think Dolphingirl said the best. It's not a result of what he has done, but the potential of what he can do. More world leaders agrees today that world without nuclear arms is achievable, than amount of them believed year ago. This fact itself is enough to award him the nobel prize. I believe that he can, and I thank him very much for trying. He is the closest thing to a hope. Whenever you think he is not doing good, just remember the man he replaced.

Some live with their grandparents, some live in trailer parks and some may even live with another family member

While others hold the world record on swimming, elected as governors or presidents, school principals, sumo wrestlers, rugby team members, professors, doctors, list goes on and on.

There are lots of things that are 'nature' or 'herbal' that you should not put near, in or on your body.

Agreed, some dangers involved. But is it really the responsibilty of the government to protect citizens from its potential dangers? If it is, why alcohol and tobacco are allowed?

Its the support of the drug dealers who are selling it that should worry people.

Exactely. If it's legalized, drug dealing would be absolete. If it's legalized, it would not be a gateway drug. Only reason that it's considered as a gateway drug is because it's available at the same place where dangerous chemical drugs are sold. Children will be better protected, and potency could be controlled. I am sure, if it's legalized, people won't take changes with chemical drugs. Why would they buy highly toxic checmical drug that noone knows who made it, what they decided to mix in it, if cannabis was available at the corner store. It may even end terrorism and drug cartels, just because this is how they make most of their money. All the good things here, nothing bad. It will reduce violence, promote peace and people will develop better relationships with each other. I really believe it will be very beneficial for everyone.

marijuana makes you fat and lazy and the unfiltered tar will give you cancer. The THC is a poison

THC is not a poision! it's used successfuly as medicine. It doesn't make you any lazier than you already are. I don't think it makes you fat either. Actually all the smokers I know are much healtier than alcohol drinkers. Alcohol is the real danger here, not pot. Unfilterated tar from tobacco is bad, but only if it's mixed with tobacco. Surely anything burnt and inhailed is not healthy, but it's individuals choice and doesn't justify criminalization.

    Helter,

I'm sure every forty-year-old pothead living in their parents' basement would agree.

It could be argued that those people would be living in their parents' basements anyways. Anyone with little bit of self respect wouldn't allow it to interfare with his/her life. I know many people, enjoying it responsibly, all their lives. Some of the most educated people to some of the most athletic or artistic people, with no problems attached. Showing the bad eggs as an example is not fair way of analyzing effects of this plant.

It's a harmless plant, not a dangerous drug. Treating users as criminals is a violation of human rights.

bgaudry, Japanese never had problem with cannabis. They just inherited series of laws from US and this was one of it. Just today, there's a news in JT about legalization in California.

This is a plant, not a checmical substance, there is no danger involved. Your thoughts are old and moldy. It's a herbal remedy and criminalizing it is a violation of human rights.

If you are religious, it's the same god who created all the vegetables and fruits that created this one, for us humans to enjoy.

One of the Kennedys’ once said, "Punishment for the drug, should not be more damaging than the drug itself". What choice will this kid have, having this on his criminal history? He will have to check "Yes" on the embarkation card whenever he re-enters Japan, for the question "Have you ever been caught on cannabis possession". Any permanent job he applies, they will dig this out and he won't be hired. He is damaged for life, just because he chose to inhale. On the other hand, how damaging this drug really is? From the recent news, we see that it's enjoyed by all age and professions. If world record holder Phelps is doing it, that should be a proof itself that it's not damaging at all. Surely there maybe consequences if abused, but no more than alcohol or tobacco abuse.
Let's shake this taboo and come to global realization that cannabis is not a dangerous drug. It's a herbal remedy. Treating users as criminals is a crime to humanity and violation of human rights.

Thank God this fiend didn't get the girl taped up, then get her on his bike and make his get away!!

I can hardly imagine that someone can tape the girls hands, put her in the bicycle and get away with it in the middle of the day. It wouldn't even happen in the movies. It's wrong to make up stories like this without knowing all the facts.

carbon in the atmosphere is trapping heat is considered the most likely explanation for global warming

Counter theory is that CO2 makes up very small percentage of the atmospehere and can't be responsible of trapping heat. Water vapor has even stronger effects on heat trapping. But scientists will not swtich to this idea because this idea is not financed by governments. If you want to go document the arctic melting, you get funds, but if you want to ivestigate how CO2 is a heat trapping gas any more than water vapor, no funding is given. Scientists are the puppets of governments.

Doesn't seem like a dangerous criminal. Maybe metally challenged.

Sad being we are. What happend to innocent until proven guilty? Why can't we respect their space and leave them alone for god sake. Unless she is showing up to work all messed up on drugs, there should be no reason for ending her contract. It's their loss 'cause she is so beautiful, she'll find other opportunnities in other countries. Countries that won't jail her due to gossips and rumors, loud music or attending solar eclipse parties.

    bush was nothing but successful.

Gosh, how can anyone believe in bull crap like that. He was the worse president, and not only among the US presidents. He was a shame to human intelligence and still to this day, can't believe he was selected twice. His officials are now facing liability, if you ask me, all should be locked up for long time for the crimes they commited against humanity.

I wouldn't call it a mistake. It happens all the time, especially in this country. People wouldn't even think twice before they sleep with their coworkers. Some happens for just one time, while others last months. It's human nature, no shame should be involved.
