"It's controversial because it is unconstitutional and illegal even in Japan, but of course no-one here will do anything about it (or even talk about doing anything about it)."
Really? I am unaware of any law or part of the Japanese constitution where it states that you cannot agree to NOT do something during the course of your contract with an employer. Please tell me where this law/phrase is, because I had to agree to quite a few things which I cannot do during the course of my employment.

Why is this even controversial? nothing like a female crying about something to get the feminists up in arms! Did she sign a contract? Yes. Are people expected to work/live by the expectations/boundaries of that contract? Yes. As a matter of fact, not only did she want to be in AKB48000, I imagine her parents had to be part of that contract signing since she was like 15 when she joined. If at any point she felt she couldn't live up to those obligations, she could have quit. Her job is to sing, dance, and be cute and "available" for her fans. I actually like this girl because she is quite different from the other akb48000 girls, but a contract is a contract. She should be kicked out. (That is actually a good thing for her)

I dont understand how there are so many replies agreeing with this "The man should apologize" BS. If you are wrong, you apologize. If she is wrong, she should. If she doesnt want to, then tend to your hobby, go out with friends, blah blah. My woman apologizes far more than I do, because she is at fault more often. If you seriously cave into her every time there is an issue, then you probably deserve the lifestyle you have.

Dolphin, I would say that it is POSSIBLE, but ive never met a man who has every said "I dont feel like sex" nearly as often as women do. But yes, I would say if the male completely cuts off the female without reason, she has the right to go elsewhere. The problem with this logic, is that men typically always want it. Women cannot always provide, and beyond that week of the month, Ive met very few women with a sex drive like my male friends. So when people assume its the woman saying no, I think its safe to say that in 97%+ instances, that is the blocking issue, not because the male isnt interested.

If my wife says no with a valid reason, cool. If my wife says no just "becuase" there are plenty of younger, sluttier, and hornier girls willing to do things my wife wouldnt consider. She knows this, so I dont have to put up with so many no's. If she really cares about you, she wouldnt want you to go elsewhere. If she doesnt care, time to sign those divorce papers and go to the college girl's hangouts. :-) There is really no excuse for being sexless in Japan.

Many have already said it. Its pretty simple. Women here want a cash cow, sperm donor, and someone to pawn the unwanted chores on. If you were married to a woman like this, (MANY MANY J-women fit this) why would you want to go home to that? The only reason men in western countries dont do it as well, is because its illegal. Men want sex most any time they are awake. Women dont. A lot of Japanese women dont want sex at all after the kids are popped out. If Japanese women saw their potential mates in an emotional light instead of a systematic function of life, things might change.

Well, when an entire country is trained to think like children, they are of course going to call "mommy and daddy" (the authorities) when stuff doesnt go their way. There are many times Id like to administer "stone cold stunners" to the old people who have this mentality in public.

Now im not for child abuse or murder, but what kind of dumbass starts a crime, but doesnt finish it, then calls the cops to tell them she did it. WOW. I feel sorry for the kid though. Oh well, your moms a whore, what kind of parenting do you expect?

Absolutely yes. If someone says something that offends me, either a) it would offend most anyone and it will get shut down by the masses, or b) I will have something far more offensive for that person in retort. It might shut up some of the crybabies of the world. WAAAAAH christmas offends me, WAAAAAH the pledge of allegience offends me. I could just as easily say that anything but a short skirt on a woman offends me because im a pervert, but I doubt it would go very far. I see no reason other extremely opinionated and easily shrugged off instances should be any different.

Im sure that this "Gal" is not going to think that the hard life of a farmer is fun in any way, despite looking the way she wants. Shell be running back to Shibuya to buy some illegal drugs and sleep with random guys for money in less than 2 days.

Im getting tired of seeing the commercials for this Deep Fried Lard Vendor. I cant stand eating it more than once a year, and it most certainly wont be on christmas. But this country is full of strange holiday traditions. Christmas cake anyone?

I was a FF fan ages ago. 1, 4, 5, and 6 were all fantastic. 7 Started the click through movie era (but was still a good game). 8 was probably the worst ive ever played, and successfully turned me off to the series as a whole. Havent played one since.

Games dont give you a hard time like wives/gfs do. Online games are typically 15 bucks a month, far cheaper than any "real life" hobby. Online games are probably the best form of entertainment for the money, but one has to know when to play and when not to. People who are so hooked that they dont even go to work = loser.

A better question is why they need a mascot to begin with? And why is a mascot in this country always the product/icon + a face on it. Get some real icons like "Burger King" or even Wendy's has a memorable, and far more believable "mascot."
