When you think about it, there is really no reason for J-police to carry guns with "real" bullets as there are rarely any crimes committed with guns in this country. All of the police should be issued non-fatal weapons such as guns with rubber bullets and/or bean bags, tasers, batons etc... And then of course trained extensively on when is the right situation to use them. I think a man brandishing two knives qualifies.

    > why bother trying to impress a woman.. most guys need a gimick anyway, like a tatoo, pony tail, play in the band, part of a bikers club or whatever.. my gimick is 5000 yen and it gets me 15 minutes with some of the youngest (within legal limits) and prettiest beauties in Japan to fulfill your wildest fantasies........ and you can leave right afterward and not have to deal with her. >

alphawolf where do you shop? only ¥5,000? that's what I call getting a lot of bang for your buck.

So a 50 year old fart was able to evade the J-Police on foot eh? What a joke!

Although I guess it wouldn't be too much harder in my home country, the good ole USA, considering most of the police are fat and overweight. But then again with 80% of the population being overweight, the suspect would more than likely be fat too.

I'm glad Miura's mother is taking things into her own hands and has decided to manage her son's media career. Good on her. The trainer should only benefit from his horse racing career, since they were the one's who taught him how to ride.

“Last fall Miura’s mother founded a company that is now managing everything related to the media – without Kono’s consent. In the horse racing community, the trainer is like a parent to the jockey.

This is not just in the horse racing community. This relationship exists everywhere in Japanese society. From Sumo to ballet. If an individual has exceptional talent and happens to attend a certain school or stable or work for a company etc..., it is NOT the individual who should benefit from it, but the company, studio or stable etc.. who should benefit. That is why Shuji Nakamura left his company when he wasn't given proper credit for his inventing the blue laser. His company benefitted economically from the royalties and yet he was expected to just go on receiving a salary like a typical Japanese salaryman.

Bajarin, the analyst, doesn’t expect Jobs to appear next week. Then again, he doesn’t expect Apple to announce a new iPhone on Monday, either.

Guess he was wrong. Idiot! I should have his job. I always accurately predict when Apple is going to announce a new product. Haven't been wrong in over 10 years!

Why do almost all Japanese, after committing a heinous crime, turn themselves in? If you know you're going to feel guilty about it afterwards, don't commit the crime in the first place and save yourself and the victim(s) a lot of pain and heartache. Japanese don't seem to be able to think ahead. They just act on impulse.

Yeah great, all of that technology over at Microsoft to develop this "Project Natal" (stupid name by the way) and yet they still can't get their online gaming experience to be lag-free. How about fixing that first Microsucks? I'd like to play Halo without getting killed by lag. I think that's what most gamers REALLY want. Sony's Playstation Network works without lag and it's free.

According to the clips I saw on TV, all of The Black-Eyed Peas were performing.

I guess once again the details have been lost in translation.

Why are their never any details in these stories? Did striking the truck kill them or did they hit something in the field? Was the driver of the truck OK? Were the two that were killed instantly sitting in front seat? Did the other boy fly out of the back or side window? So many questions. For a country so anal about insignificant details, they sure don't report a lot of them in their news.

Six hours later? Once again J-police incompetence rules the day. What a shame, he might have been still alive and could have been saved during that time.

Really, in this economic climate, they couldn't think of a better way to spend ¥80 million yen? On top of that, it's ridiculously ugly and it makes her look terrible. What was the point?

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me, and you can't get fooled again." Bonus points for the speaker of those infamous words.

This is Japanese stupidity and immaturity at it's best. He strangled a woman he met for the first time in his life because quote: 'he was angry'. Hell my girlfriend of five years pisses me off all the time, but I would never strangle her. If she really pissed me off that badly I would just break up with her. Then after strangling the woman, he decides to ride around in HER car. What a freakin' idiot!

And I agree with Disillusioned and womanforwomen, why is it that Japanese people won't talk with their neighbor or someone they meet on the street, but will meet up with a total stranger in a hotel room? WTF is wrong with this country?

Not to say she or any other women deserve to be molested, but what the hell was a 19 year old girl doing sitting outside on some steps at 4:00AM in a dangerous area of Tokyo? She was just asking for trouble. That's like riding down the street in Compton in an expensive convertible with the top down and expecting not to get car-jacked. Sure it's tragic when it happens, but you should know better.
