the rope 'art' (I forget what it's called in Japanese)

It's called kinbaku. I enjoy being on the receiving end of it (I am a frequent customer of La Siora). There are those that are uncomfortable with this and other BDSM activities, and I understand their feelings. If you do not like it then ignore it. Do not judge us for what consenting adults do in privacy.

As far as Japanese actresses in the lead roles for Memoirs of a Geisha I would have had: Norika Fujiwara instead of Michelle Yeoh, and Shizuka Kudo for Gong Li. Both Japanese ladies are competent English speakers, and would have been appropriate for their roles.

Watching just the highlights made me feel ill. Such a shameful display of vanity. A 2 meter tall cake? 1000 guests? I do not even know 500 people. I think the price for this thing was around $6 million. Ridiculous!

Actually only two of the current members are under twenty, Aika Mitsui(17) and Linlin(19). The rest are all adults. At least they are in the Japanese legal sense.

SemperFi - It has nothing to do with her ability as a public official (which is something I do question). I just wonder what kind of statement, if any, ahe is trying to make by ALWAYS wearing white.

The only thing worse than a single out-of-tune metal trumpet is thousands of out-of-tune plastic ones.

No ic chip no contract. I am sticking to J-keitais until smart phones get saifu keitai.

Same goes for me. Are there any plans to put that on the iPhone?

I've always wanted an iPhone that cannot make phone calls, and is too big to fit in my pocket.

A couple of things... “talent” What exactly does that mean?

A little of bit of internet research could answer that for you, but I would think coming to a Japan-oriented site you should already know the answer . .

Talent is a generic term here for someone that is famous for being famous. It is not an indication of having an actual ability other than breathing.

She is also a smoker. That is something I do not normally like, but in Erika's case I'll shoot the Surgeon General.

She is smoking hot. Even in her gladiatrix costume.

IMO the dancer behind her is much hotter.

In this crappy picture; yes. Amuro is a hottie as anybody that has purchased a Coke from a vending machine in Japan knows.

I like Tsuchiya as long as she is not singing. Her singing does nothing for me, but I do find her voice sexy.

She was funny as hell in Shimotsuma Monogatari

With regard to Monta . . . I did not mean to infer that I agree with him in any way. however, the guy is on TV a lot, and quite a bit is live. Of course, that gives him more of an opportunity to make an ass of himself in real-time. Something he does on a regular basis. When I watch him I say to my self, "not this guy again." that's it. No thoughts of violence.

With Kitano I feel like throwing heavy objects at my $2,500 TV. I feel sorry for the peole that have to appear with him on TV. Last night I was watching Seikai Marumie and I could not stand to see one of my Japanese girlfriends, Yukari Nishio, having to be in the same space as Kitano.

Don't even get me started on his films . . .

I do not mind Mino Monta. Even if you do not like what he says you can at least admire his work ethic. Kitano, not so much. Like so many have said he is a bully. Kitano has been one of the top dogs in the J-Ent world. As such he feels entitled to do/say/act how he pleases. None of the lower ranking tarentos ever say anything to him about his behavior. i fell as if he could actually have something intelligent to say, but how can you take Kitano seriously when he appears on TV looking like Moe Howard?

No doubt. The lesson here is that you are crazy. $21,500 fine? Wow.
