not recovery, but useless spending. why don't you raise taxe...... oh wait, they are already trying to.. idiots. anyone who would even consider hosting the olympics in an overcrowded, foreigner unfriendly, expensive armpit like Tokyo would be even more moronic. Perhaps they are just fielding Tokyo's "dummy bid" because Japan is dumb enough to give under the table money to the committee?

I will never forget seeing the images of these buffoons dumping ocean water on exploded nuclear reactors and telling us not to worry because everything is safe. That was 5 days after the quake and it seems the only thing that has not changed is... they are still buffoons.

if you have walked around Tokyo a while you will know, it is pretty easy to get pissed at people's bad manners. I have gotten into a few scuffles but just exchanging words. To whip out a knif and stab someone is a whole different level

Most rules in Japan are not enforceable by law. workers here can go home at 6pm if they want. However I think these incidents have nothing to do with alcohol and more to do with egos and ignorance.

That will never happen until prices are lower and people here are more open to foreigners being here. Meanwhile the govt is trying to raise consumption tax.... Good luck Japan Boar of Tourism!

actually the factories and smoke stacks are a place called Shiohama, which is a little north. My wife's family lives near where this pic was taken. It is called Sakuradai and is near the mountain and onsen called Gozaisho. Very beautiful place.
