The big problem in the UK is the rail infrastructure - this train is running on the newly created high speed channel tunnel line. To get it anywhere else in the UK would be decades in the making - not to mention fighting in the courts to by the land to install the new tracks.

I know a Sara and both parents are Japanese....
Kindergarten function - where was the crossing guard? Why wasn't the mum holding her hand? Why don't Japanese stop at pedestrian crossings when there is someone on them?
Who to blame? Too much choice!

bottom line is that I feel a damn site safer walking home from the station at midnight in a Tokyo suburb than I did in a London suburb.
I don't watch the Japanese news but there must be a lot of scare mongering going on there as my wife would like to leave her home country of Japan because it is not safe anymore - to where?
Ridiculous - there are nutters everywhere!
It is good to here a Japanese guy saying that the foreign crime is not all its cracked up to be and largely visa related and not violent.

I heard today that one school made their children write a letter of sorrow over his death - if I had been a parent at that school I would be writing a letter of complaint about the complete waste of time that was.
Am I sorry he is dead? Of course not but his last hit was what? 20 years ago? How would these kids know who he was except for his bad media coverage in the last 10 years.
RIP MJ and let's not forget FF as well please

I think Citibank is being hounded by the FSA - you have to jump through more hoops at Citibank to transfer money than the two Japanese banks that I have used.

compared to where? Where else do primary school age children go by themselves on the metro half way across a capital city to get to school?
May not be as safe as it was 20 years ago but I will take it over London, Paris, NY etc

I am really surprised that no-one has brought up the economic climate at the moment. Yes, undoubtedly, NOVA damaged the industry but on top of that people and companies are trying to keep spending down.
Those that are keen to learn are probably going to cheaper sources so the numbers from Berlitz and Gaba are dropping off - not sure that means the numbers learning English are necessarily going down.

checked it out in HMV today - so expensive!!! 2,500yen is a rip off for an album these days. GBP6.79 on iTunese minus the one Japanese bonus track
Come on 9 songs for 2,500yen is daylight robbery.
