notginger - separating the Brits from the Americans on the board!!!
Japan has to be about the least religious minded country I've been to. Sure there are lots of temples and shrines but that is only because it is a tax free occupation. Some of the richest guys here have got to be priests...

quote of the year already - well you think? Just the other day I saw a car with two small children sitting on mum's lap in the front seat - why are some people so dumb? Sure they might be a good driver - I am - but it is the other people on the road that truly scare me! (and not just in Japan)

Absolutely crazy here - a friend had a 12 yo nephew in need of a transplant and family and friends were forced to get the money to send him to the US. Fortunately for him the money was raised in time and a few days after arriving in the US he was lucky enough to get a transplant and is now back in school. I guess we are going to need people like him to enter into J politics and change the law. Either way though they still need more people to donate organs - 76 in 11 years!

so let me get this right - Jaden sounds like a girls name and the child looks like a girl but is actually a boy? I would say poor boy, but then with his parents and now his own income anything but!

sigh - did I not just comment on the post about JR stopping smoking in stations and nearby that the same needs to apply to the Underground (sorry metro, subway whatever). I just have two words for them "King's Cross"

And let's move Chinese new year to 1st Jan - it confuse the rest of us having this moving holiday!
Let's cut the PC rubbish and just be more tolerant of everyone's religion and beliefs. Then maybe we won't have to wake up every day wondering if we are going to be in the middle of the next 9/11, 7/7, Bali, Mumbai etc...
Merry Christmas Everyone!

If they say it is unlikely to happen in the UK it will never happen here. Minorities are so marginalised here that there is absolutely no chance.

Yes to the first and depends on the second. If the passenger is too drunk as well then how can you hold them liable?

The only thing that surprises me here is that you do not hear about it every day.
I saw a very lucky cyclist the other day almost hit by a taxi. If the taxi had hit him i would have stopped and given evidence in the taxi drivers favour - it was dark and the cyclist was wearing black with no lights and crossing the road from the pavement.
No bets that this accident happened a country road with no lights and the cyclist had no lights so did not see the lady.
