There are many failures here. The mountain rescue should have been out as soon as the weather turned bad. The hikers should have notified the lodges of their time of arrival and when they were over due, it should have been reported. These are elderly people, the forest service needs to be more active in the prevention of such tragedies. It happens every year and ultimately it is the responsibility of the hikers/climbers. Safety classes for all who submit their plan to hike/climb in the Alps is a good start. An ounce of prevention in this case could save lives. RIP climbers/hikers

Humm… Good for the passengers on this flight.
Everyone seems to be confused, this poor woman chose to stop taking her medication knowing what could happen although the story doen't say when or how long she had been off them she, did it by choice. As a former mental health worker, I can tell you that a bipolar in a manic phase was not kidding about crashing the plane ( if that is what she said she would do).
So in my book the guys who tackled her were living their Chuck Noris dream, and possibly saving the lives of everyone on that plane. If you know nothing about mental illness you shouldn't laugh about the men ″taking out a poor woman.″ Why do you think it took more than two if she was so weak and helpless? In my book those men are Heroes. She was no poor woman.

Mikihouse - nice post! I'll not shed a tear for this animal. He is the poster child for the death penalty.
I think he should be planted in a nameless grave somewhere near the Fukushima power plant. Just to rot way.

This was a brutal act done knowing he was safe from death. I think it is great that he will get the same fate his victims got. Sitting in a cell waiting and wondering if it is his day to die. Seeing the hang man come and not knowing if it will be the day of his until he is taken to the gallows where he will cry and beg for his life. HANG HIM. I'll buy the rope.

He knew what he was doing when he did it. He knew it was wrong. He made the choice to end TWO lives. Hang him and let it be a warning to others!

Hang him high and let the crows feast on his eyes.
You who say that it is unjust that he hang by the neck till death must not have children. The MAN raped the mother THEN killed an 11 month old child.
Justice was not be done until the hang man comes for him and he knows what his victims felt.

I think PM Noda needs to go to Fukushima and tell the people living there that life is back to normal. What an ass.

I don't believe that it was shot down. That would have been leaked to the press long ago. Conspiracy nuts can't believe the simple truth. It's not important how the plane crashed, they are heroes because they chose to fight back. RIP Flight 93 passengers. (; _ ;)

Who are you referring to as "their" in your comment Asagao? You must be the only person who has not heard the recordings from the flight. The people knew that they were going to die no matter what actions they took. So they tried to retake control of the plane and the hijackers crashed the plane. The people chose to fight back instead being part of the terrorist's plan. They are heroes. To fight back and die is better than to die as a sheep.

Ok, I'll agree the it is not a tent.
It is a giant bandaid. It is a very short term fix, I hope it will help buy need time to build something better.

The "how to manual" is safe because of freedom of the press and or speech. You have to take the good with the bad. But they could ask the company hosting it to remove it. Or have the people who posted it arrested for inciting violence. I think that might be possible. I can't believe how stupid some people are. Step One: Enter the building. Step Two: Tell the worker you want the money. Step Three: Run like the devil is after you (because it takes the police around thirty minutes to show up). Oh, and in Japan like most places, many stores and businesses tell their employees to give the cash whether they see a weapon or not. I hope this nut job didn't hurt anyone.

Anyone ever stop to think that he may have been trying to commit suicide? I think that is the reason for alot of the stuff old people do in Japan. I mean they step off of sidewalks into traffic, cross the street in unsafe places, walk in busy streets, and all sorts of unbelievable things while behind the wheel of a car. Suicide is the only thing that really makes all this stuff make sense.

I have to disagree with JeffLee. I live near Enoshima and there are plenty of restrooms and their are more places for pedestrians than cars and such. Clearly you have not been to the beach pictured above. It has been that way for at least the last twelve years. And about the trash in the water, like Foxie said pick it up and put it in the trash bin. People forget that when others see someone do something, they are more likely to feel like doing the same thing. My family and I pick up all the trash after we go camping or fishing no matter who it belongs to. Monkey see, monkey do. I used to fish in Enoshima quite often. Then they built a small boat dock and a new bridge and trashed the eco system. That has been a few years, so I'm thinking about some catch and release fishing there in the next few weeks. I'm also concerned about the radiation in the water. I hope no one gets sick.

The UN is a thoothless dog that barks at it's own shadow. It will never be able to defend it's self, much less anyone else until they are free to do what needs to be done. They are a shadow of what could be a good thing. There is not one counrty on the earth that is afraid of the UN. They must be willing to take any action needed to deal with threats to member states. At this point in history I don't believe it will happen. My heart aches for those people in the congo. This is the second time they have been failed by the UN, and who knows how many times Africa has been failed by them. If I were the leader of the Congo I would ask the US to consider making it a US territory. There is not a country on this earth that believes they can attack the US and walk away unharmed. Yes I know that what is happening in the Congo is about money. But the people can not fight against mercenaris hired by big business. So the cycle continues...

“Ahhh, there’s just one more thing…” was usually followed by. "I was wondering.... " or "I was thinking..." One of the greats. RIP

This guy is stupid. But if he went to the trouble of putting a camera in his shoe, then he's probably selling the pictures to some fetish website. He could get the same pictures by paying the girls. If he asked the girls and they said yes, the cops would not be involved. He is stupid. No matter what he deserves what happens to him.

This is a very strange thing in Japan. You never see a candidate out in public until election time. Then they paste their name every where and recruit these speakers vans to go around the neighborhoods. Then the son of the former candidate gets elected.

Too bad the adult age has not been changed yet. These two adults should be punished to the full extent of the law. They should be tried as adults and their names made public. The baby died a slow death. I think they should spend 20-30 years on death row and then hanged by the neck until death. The End.
