Maybe Japanese whaling boats should stop illegally entering Australian territorial waters.

How anyone can believe this is beyond me.
An astronomically rich, draft-dodging, lying, know-nothing Mormon winning over middle-America?
Almost too ridiculous to ponder.
Obama has barely opened his re-election warchest and there are a lot of rich banking and insurance scheisters who owe him big time.
The Republican nominee will be fed to the wolves and be forever the GOP's Dukakis. Well, another Goldwater anyway.

In regards to the Tohoku disaster, people actually commit suicide less in time of war or disaster. I think when so many others are in the same desperate boat, you dont feel so sorry for yourself anymore and dont feel so alone in your misery.
Not so. Most Japanese who commit suicide are elderly men who have retired, are in poor health and lonely.

I am confused. Do you live in Japan? If so, items that are in stock in Japan shouldnt take longer than 48 hours. The stuff coming from the States (.com) can take up to 3-4 weeks to arrive in Japan.
Posted in: Online shopping: Have you had any trouble, such as items taking an unusually long time to arrive; they did not arrive at all; they were defective when they did arrive; or they were the wrong items?

See all those trucks delivering everything necessary that makes Japan go around? All the planes and ships that freight all of Japans food imports and machinery exports? All oil powered.
Iran has plenty of land-based missiles which will make it impossible for a navy to open to the Strait of Hormuz. This is where all the oil freighters have to pass through. The US would have to put boots on the ground and that would make Iraq and Afghanistan seem like a day in the park. Not sure the US could afford to do it and if it turned sour before summer - Obama wont be re-elected. Heck of a risk I might say.

I do - not sure if I fit your criteria though.
Check out Cafe Heaven in Fukushima, crazy brugers going on at Any's Burger in Uehonmachi, Bon Hamburger aint worth the trip, Outback in Umeda does a good lunchtime burger (but the steak sanga is much better) and if you feel adventurous, or get hungry on the way to the airport - pop into Hale'aina in Izumi Sano. The burgers are very decent and the boss is an absolute dude. Hope this helps.

The burgers are frozen there dude. You obviously have no palate or are already wasted by the time the burger finally arrives.

When you say "mean", I take it you meant like the dictionary states - nasty, unpleasant and loathsome.
I am a true burger lover and Tins gets a 3/10. The place is dark so that you cant see what you are getting. Their pizza is ok, but the burger needs serious help.

Wow! A genuinely well-written article on Japan Today, another thing I never knew to exist!
The bit about flashing the passport for the trophy was gold.
One the whole, Japanese barmen ARE very good, all the way from the smug mop-heads who serve at the 5-star bars all the way down to the grubby izakaya ji-jis whose organs will not be donated upon their passing but rather studied extensively.
The problem is, I have been banned from so many top-notch hotel bars in Osaka and Tokyo, that it is difficult for me to gauge their abilities consistently.

whiskey - you dont know about his guys habits regarding charitable donations. He employs hundreds of people and provides them with an opportunity of a livelihood. That is good enough in my books. I think it would be great if the money were going to a charity of some sort but that is not the Japanese way. This is a very rich nation but you dont see people begging for change or living desperately.
What the heck are you talking about? "Here people, make a line in the cold for a bit of sushi. Let me feed it to you into your mouths with my newly-found ability of chopstick usage...."
Get real.
Yeah - well, yah dont. Go earn said money and deal with the headaches that come with it, report back and tell me that you want to throw your money at used cars or tuna for the homeless.

Well, indirectly through publicity perhaps for the company's sales overall.
If you are suggesting that he might get 200 million Yen for the fish - no chance.

When you are President of an very successful Japanese business in a massively competitive field- then you can decide who has the brains.
You dont get it, do you? It is for the publicity - not the fish. From what he did today, hundreds of thousands of people know his name and his company's name. It is hard to get a Kyushu business onto media headlines and he has done it with a smile. Money well spent and his customers are going to be lining up outside the doors to get a slice of this fish.
