Samantha Zoe Aso - It has to do with the amount of tainted foods consumed. Most other country's diets are varied, whereas the Japanese eat rice three or four times a day. If one was to consume this tainted rice at that rate they would most certainly suffer from ailments related to the consumption. However, if one was to eat this tainted rice irregularly it is highly unlikely they would have any effect from consuming it.

Yeah, so filming and selling DVDs is illegal. We all know that, but shouldn't buying them be illegal too? Something like, dealing in proceeds of a crime. If he made 4.5M yen from them that is a thousand DVDs. I fear the prisons in Japan would not be big enough if they started rounding up all the perverted sickos.

Interesting comments about the correlation between whale and dolphin strandings and earthquakes. So, you are saying that whales and dolphins can sense earthquakes so they kill themselves? That makes a lot of sense, not!

I'd imagine this works just as well as the Power Balance bracelets, which are quite popular in Japan. I dare say this placebo gadget will draw a similar popularity.

Oh, my goodness! It makes me wonder if this report will be taken seriously or written off as foreign rhetoric. If it is not safe to farm it would be safe for living either.

What do I think about convenience stores in Japan?
Um, they are convenient. Coming from Oz where take out alcohol is only sold between 10am and 10pm the 24hr service in Japan is awesome!
And Pukey, the food in combinis is not junk food. It is actually quite high quality food due to the competition for sales. Unless, you are referring to potato chips, chocolate bars, etc, of course.

Wow! What a bunch of odd posts. This is a case of child abuse by an ignorant and aggressive nut case. There is no justification for any sort of physical abuse of a child. People who think they have disciplinary issues with kids are wrong. It is self-discipline they have issues with. There are no bad kids! Only bad parents! You'd probably find this nut's father did the same to him. I just hope he is charged and estranged from the kid and that the GF has the balls to make sure he never sees the kid again.

And therein lies the truth. A whaling industry is a commercial enterprise, thus making it illegal under the rules of the IWC, does it not? A spade is a spade, a sham is a sham and BS is BS!
I grew up on the east coast of Oz. When I was a kid (some 40 odd years ago) we never saw whales cos at that time many countries were still hunting whales commercially and had been for many centuries. Now, however, whales of many species are common sight all up and down the east and west coasts of Australia, including Orcas, which was unheard of in the last century. The whale watching industry in Australia is a multi-million dollar industry and plays a major part in supporting the tourism industry in Australia. Yes, Japan has been singled out for their 'scientific research', which they kill, or attempt to kill, a thousand or so whales a year. The main reason for Australia's opposition to this is not just because of the tourism industry. It is because 'if' Japan starts commercial whaling in the southern oceans there is no reason for any other country (mostly Asian countries) with a so-called 'whaling culture' to start the practice again. This would result in the whales being slaughtered at huge rate and their numbers would diminish very quickly, once again. To me, Japan's continued 'research' is a very selfish and childish action that shows a total disregard to the rest of the modern world's conservation efforts and should be stopped immediately.
I still have a vivid memory of sitting in the surf off Byron Bay around 6am in the morning some 15 years ago and an 8m Humpback whale popped its head out of the water 6m away from us to check us out. We didn't even see it coming. It stared straight at us for a good 10 to 15 seconds and then just disappeared. Awesome stuff!

DS - It's called, guilt by association, but in this case I think accessory to murder is more appropriate.

There was no reason given for the attack. Sadly, too many people should not be parents. Who, in their right mind would knowingly injure a one month old baby? And, why? Hopefully, although doubtfully, this nut will get the counseling he desperately needs.

Gotta love Japanese culture. A large percentage of their fan base is men in their 30's and 40's. Is the attraction the music? I think not!
