It seems to be every autumn the nuts fall from the tree and start stabbing people. Although these incidents happen regularly in Japan, there definitely is a heightened regularity through September and October each year.

No! Please read the article again. It states he will appear in a separate trial on Oct 6. However, he will only receive a suspended sentence if anything. No doubt he has bribed his underlings to scape goat for him.

Ah, yes! Japan the safety country. It is a safe country as long as some utter loon is not having a bad day and decides to take to you with a kitchen knife, of course.

The answer has to be, YES! they should all go onto a public register and be named and shamed for the rest of their pathetic lives. I'd even go as far as to suggesta tattoo on their foreheads. Not to serve as punishment, but to serve as a deterrent for anyone that want to try their hand at kiddy fiddling in the future.

Shouldn't that be 'underestimated'?
Anyway, regardless of being under over, the facts are, this plant was bult with minimal safety measures 40 years ago and despite warnings from outside parties and recommendations the plant was not upgraded. his is what lead to the disaster. Mother nature just pointed out how inadequate the Japanese safety standards were. There are more plants in Fukushima that are exactly the same as Dai-Ichi. What have they done about them? Nothing, of ourse. It is just talk Noda-san! We are all waiting to see some action!

Actually, Harry-Gatto, it is not getting the water that is the issue, it is releasing the water, which is why all power plants are built near oceans lakes or rivers.

These kinds of articles pop up three or four times a year in Japan. It makes one wonder just how many more kids are being prostituted by their parents and go unreported.

Oh, bugger! I switched from AU to get an iPhone. Looks like I could be going back, but will wait to see if this 'rumor' comes into play before I start planning my Softbank revolt.

No doubt some clever Richard will come up with a new version of Cydia to keep apps free from the iTunes store. And, you only need a credit card if you use your alien registration card for ID. If you have a Japanese driver's licence a credit card is unnecessary. If you don't have either, a licence is easier to get than a credit card.
I will have had my iPhone4 for a year by the time iPhone5 hits Japanese shores, so I will be a sure starter to upgrade. The new version of Cydia should be out by then too. Nice!

Sounds like the perfect place to build a nuclear power plant without sufficient tsunami protection, doesn't it? NOT! Nuclear power can be safe and cheap, but only if the plants are built with 'over-the-top' protection and safety measures, unlike the minimalist Japanese plants!

Just to add a bit to the Australian notes: They feel like plastic cos they are made from PET plastic, however, last month there was a spree of fake $50 notes getting passed around, so nothing is impossible to copy, but Japanese money would be pretty easy. Yeah, they have a texture, but a couple of runs through the clothes dryer would rough them up sufficiently to pass as old bills.
