So, soon Japan will also have the world's largest radioactive material dump.

This rice could be eaten if they gave one bowl to every person in Japan, except me and my kids, of course.

I'd guess it will just be stored in the dead zone for a few centuries until it starts to break down naturally.

This image reminds of the good old days back in Oz. Whenever we saw a group of Japanese tourists we'd always stop and point up into the trees telling them there was a koala in the tree then just walk off. Nine times out of ten they were still there half an hour later looking it.

Too late! The J-Gov just spent it sending the Coast Gurd to the southern ocean to protect their "uhum" research vessels.

Well, isn't this report a big surprise, NOT! It is so ironic how the Japanese spend so much time and money on drills for these kinds of events and then, when the big one came the wheels fell off everything. I still vividly remember the endless stream of people walking through Ichikawa until 6am on March 12 trying to make their home. The Toei-Oedo line in Tokyo is supposed to be disaster proof and was built to provide access to the city in the event of a major quake, which is why it was built so deep underground. Guess what? It didn't bloody work! It was shut down with the rest of the trains.

As for what happened in Fukushima (or didn't happen). They were like a bunch of headless chickens running around with no idea what to do. With the BS and denials made by TEPCO and the lack of leaked info by the J-Gov it was very clear they were smoke-screening to cover up the fact they had no idea what was going on or what to do about it.

Wow! A couple of over-zealous posts from the natives. It's a shame they don't really understand what they are attempting to condem. Japan was not a victim of war in the last five hundred years. They were the aggressors, which is why Yasukuni is despised by so many nations that Japan either invaded or attempted to invade in the last five hundred years. Why do you think 'world history' is a secondary subject in japanese schools?

Why blame a Korean? They should be look at members of the LDPJ first.

Sadly, I have seen this kind of thing quite regularly, although not resulting in death. Many times I have seen a loopy senior jump in to hassle someone younger about their manners and they are extremely agressive. Just the other day I saw an old guy on the train abusing everyone for not sitting close enough together. One semi-senior intervened to calm him down and the old coot wanted to fight him. Just watch your P's and Q's people. There are plenty of nutters out there waiting for an excuse to snap.

However, on the other hand, this guy should not have belted the old fella. He should have just walked away. Now, he is going to the 'Happy House' for a bit of cool off time.

Spirited? I believe the correct term is, 'Kidnapped'!

Hasebe confessed to the crime, and quoted him as saying that he fled out of fear,

No! He fled cos he is a gutless wimp!

CrazyJoe - I wonder what percentage of vehicle and pedestrian accidents are hit-and-run.

As much as it is good news, it is also quite sad! I hope this parent/s can deal with his/her/their grief.

Reformedbasher - I grew up hunting wild pigs in NW NSW and yes, I could have shown them how to do it, thank you very much. Although, I probably would have been arrested for having an 8" hunting knife. Good on ya mate! ;-)

Oginome - Yes, post-natal depression is a reall illness and, as such, can be treated, but in Japan the quacks just give them enough sleeping pills and anti-depresents to kill themselves and then tell them to come back next month, if they survive, of course.

What is another day in Japan without a story of a crazy parent abusing or killing one or all their kids. However, this one is special. Shoganai ne?

It would have been hilarious to watch the flops chase the pig down. The way the article reads all 30 cops jumped on the pig.

One question though; Why didn't the cops shoot it?

I am always amused by these kinds of studies. The scientists openly admit they cannot accurately predict earthquakes yet turn around state they can predict are not more likely than before.

At least they didn't refer to the end of the Inca calendar next year, I suppose.
