Personally, I think there is no difference between kissing your honey in public to kissing your kids in public. If you are afraid to show your emotions then your emotions must not be true. As for anyone that dislikes public displays of effection, DON'T WATCH! Voyeurism is a crime!

Accidental death? She left a three year old home alone and left the balcony door unlocked with a chair on it? Accident? How is that an accident? It is stupidity resulting in death!

What a crazily worded headline! Why doesn't it just read, "second best selling"? Ah, but is only an iPad copy anyway.

Do these ratbags just wake up one morning and say to themselves, "I think I'll stab someone today." These random stabbings are Japan specific and happen with alarming regularity. Yeah, people get stabbed in other countries too, but it usually cos of a fight or a robbery, but that is not the case in Japan. How many have there been in the last month? 3? 4? How about the girl slashed in the face last week? There are some serious psychological issues in Japanese society that just keep being swept under the tatami.

What a load of hogwash! Kids need to feel the love of their parents. My kids are still confused as to why papa is so loving and caring and their Jp mum is such a cold hearted b!tch. They always ask me, "Why doesn't mama kiss me?

I couldn't agree more! My beautiful 'halfu' daughter started elementary school this year and she is already copping it. Gladly, I am in her life to put some perspective on the ijime culture and to reassure her they are only bullying her cos they are jealous!

This is such a nasty scenario and unfortunately, an all too common one. There is an organization called CRC (Children's Rights Council) that has been helping all these fathers achieve the right to see their kidnapped kids. However, their moto is, the best parent is both parents. Sadly it didn't work out that way in this case. A big kudos to the dad for sticking to his guns and a big thumbs down to the mother, but I just feel sorry for the kid that has been caught in the middle of it.
Japan is such a backwards country when it comes to divorce an joint custody. There are no laws governing joint custody, child support or property settlement and whatever the mother says she gets. I got divorced a little over a year ago and the witch would let me see my kids for four months. It wasn't until she realized I was a very handy babysitter that she let me see my kids again and now, they spend every wekend with me. As they should! Divorce should be about the kids and not the parents!

Yes, they do, but only some and it is usually just the local skateboard bowl! However, it only encourages these these bored twits to deface property that is not theirs. It is not art! It is vandalism!

Must have been one heck of an impact. I am not really surprised the baby seat was launched out of the care cos in Japan they are only fitted by the three point seat belt. The article aslo states 'a small car'. It was probably one of those 'K' cars with the impact strength of an aluminum can. In Oz baby seats have to be set in a four point restraint. Sad article, just the same. I wonder which of these drivers was at fault. Did the mother run the intersection without looking or was the other car speeding?

Art is art and graffiti is graffiti. Yes, some graffiti is artistic, but it is still just graffiti. The Australian Gov recently declared war on graffiti and passed a law that nobody under 18y/o can buy pressure pack paints and those over 18 have to provide ID to purchase them. I was a sign painter for many years and very quickly got sick and tired of having my work destroyed by these hoodlums. I hate graffiti! It is a stain on society!

Why? I have an answer, but the mods will probably delete it: Have you seen the choice of young herbivore guys they have to date? With their manga haircuts, perfumes, girly giggles, man bags, jewelry and daintily crossing their legs higher than any woman I have ever seen. Gawd! It is no surprise young Japanese girls are alcoholics. They have nothing better to do.

One question: If the police know who these thugs are and their operations why are they still in business? To me, it is a choice of two answers, either the j-flops don't have the aggets to shut them down or they are on the payrol.

Haven't had one of these for a while. There was a spate of them a few years ago. Hope they catch this nut before he does it again. Hope the girl is ok.
All the karate nuts should stop eating so much beef! This nut came up from behind a 15y/o girl and slashed her face. These kinds of nuts only pick on the defenseless, so your point is invalid.

Um, no they are not! they are actually extinct in the waters around Japan cos of overfishing.
I agree with Cleo that fish farming does produce a lot of waste, but if you consider the environmental impact of fishing for shrimp, tuna, salmon, etc, there is a balance. Fish stocks of nearly all species have dropped by 50% or more in the last century and now with the world's population topping 7 billion it is only gonna get worse. It doesn't matter which species of fish you choose, the answer is management of stocks. Long line fishing should be banned. There is a 60-70% average of by catch with long lining. Fish farming is the answer, but it still has a long way to go to become environmentally sustainable.
Posted in: With overfishing a big issue, what is the best fish to eat in terms of species that reproduce quickly, are still in good supply and are caught using methods that minimize bycatch and damage to the ocean floor?
