Sorry for sounding insensitive, but I'm starting to lose sympathy for this type of victim, simply because of the massive publicity that this particular scam has received in Japan. Is it possible that she has never heard of this "ore ore" scam or that none of her relatives have ever warned her? If that is the case, then she definitely deserves our sympathy, but if she had heard / been told of this scam before, then, in my opinion, she is partially responsible for her loss.

@Siouz Chef - I've had Dominos on a few occasions but have yet to experience the "Domino runs". Maybe you're thinking of Shakey's pizza and the infamous 'Shakey's shake-up' (of one's bowels, that is).

Well said. That money could be much better - and more appropriately - spent helping support the victims of the earthquake & tsunami!

Great idea KariHaruka. Too bad it was already tried - more than once - and failed when, after lengthy negotiations, Iran agreed to allow IAEA nuclear monitors access to their nuclear sites but eventually refused them entry. Regarding your statement that "Israel and Iran are both acting like a bunch of immature children", this is an overly simplistic analogy. The Iranian President has vowed several times to annihilate (completely destroy) Israel saying he will, "wipe it off the map", and as recently as two weeks ago, Iran's supreme religious leader threatened to destroy Israel again, saying that, "The Zionist regime is a true cancer tumor on this region that should be cut off ... and it definitely will be cut off".
Having suffering the worst genocide in human history and vowing to never let it happen again, the homeland of the Jews has got to take Iran's threat seriously, since as soon as Iran develops an atomic bomb (which is predicted to be 1 ~ 2 year away), given it's close proximity to Israel, Iran could very well carry out this threat.

ExportExpert - Do you know of any other countries in which people don facemasks when they're sick to avoid spreading their germs to others? I doubt it, as I've traveled to about 30 countries and have never seen it. Granted, some Japanese (especially middle-aged men) tend to cough and even sneeze without covering their mouth, (which I don't like either), but I find that generally speaking, Japanese tend to avoid spreading germs more than their western counterparts.

I have been following this story on a weekly basis for at least the past 5 years and a few things have become evidently clear.
1) It is not possible to use 'diplomacy' to get Iran to abandon it's nuclear program, since even diplomacy + sanctions + threats of further sanctions have proven absolutely futile. 2) All evidence, i.e. non-compliance with security council resolutions and directives from the IAEA, uranium enrichment methods, etc. points toward the development of nuclear weapons. 3) If Ayatollah Ali Khamene (Iran's SUPREME leader) and Ahmadinajad (It's PRESIDENT) are to be believed, Iran's express intention - as publicly stated on several occasions is to completely destroy (i.e. bomb) Israel.
As a group of people that has already suffered mass genocide while the world (especially Europe) stood by and watched, is it so wrong for Israel - which has never ever threatened Iran, by the way - to strike at the impending doom that threatens its very existence? I, for one, say NO!!

@Gifu - I think your post is overly simplistic (not to mention a bit smug smug and condescending toward Japanese). Some of the people who actually live there obviously view the negative effects resulting from an extremely limited income (such as malnutrition, high stress levels, and depression) to be worse than possible radiation exposure at some point in the future. I'm not a proponent of nuclear power by any means and am just as worried as everyone else, however, I also believe that people who live in areas in which nuclear power plants are the largest employer do have the right to express their opinion on the matter.

A raise in the consumption tax would force even more working poor, elderly, single mothers, etc. into poverty. How about increasing capital gains taxes and 'sin taxes' like tobacco and alcohol, which would also reduce medical/hospital expenses through a healthier citizenry. In Canada, (Toronto, anyway) cigarettes cost between $8 ~ $10 a pack and alcohol is about 20% more expensive. As a person who likes his drink and periodic cigarettes, I would be more than willing to pay a little more if it meant reducing the tax burden on society's less fortunate.

You know what's even more disgraceful than all the government housing properties sitting empty, and all of the graft, slush funds, and other public money that the government pockets and pisses away every year? It's the BILLIONS of dollars that were donated by people in Japan and around the world to help support the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. You know where most of it is? Still in the possession of the Red Cross, other charities, and semi-governmental agencies; slowly being wasted on task forces, committees, and consultants who are studying how to distribute the money. Now THAT'S disgraceful!

".... after Hezbollah and Lebanese officials arrested scores of Israeli spies in 2009".
More than 40 Israeli spies were caught by Hezbollah in 2009? Hmmm, I'm a regular newspaper reader and don't remember hearing about that. Makes me wonder how credible the rest of the article is.

Canada has one of the most generous immigration policies in the world, which obviously leaves it more open to fraud and abuse. How ironic to see some people posting that it is somehow 'anti-muslim', simply because of the fraudulent Muslim immigration consultants it is targeting after all of the evidence has pointed to them. Canada is a world leader in human and equal rights legislation and strives to be as fair as humanly possible to all people, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, physical ability, or sexual orientation. Any and all posters who are unaware of these facts should do some research before exposing their ignorance.
