The Republicans at this stage should not be given a another opportunity to further destroy the economy. They have had the last 8 years and look where we are now. I see no reason why the other party should not be given a chance.

Escalator girls in Japan is no different from working in Kentucky fry or a promotion girl at a car show. It is not always a career choice but more a way to finance themselves in the interim while they aspire for something else. For those who have made it a career choice it is no different from being a concierge at a hotel. To say that these woman are an indictment of Japanese society and the role of women is just nonsense.

This notion of being ready to be President is just patently stupid. How can any one be completely ready for a job that will involved responding to a world which is so fluid.
A better test for the Presidency should be about academic achievement, an ability to learn quickly, to approach challenges with calm and clarity underpinned by good advice; And more importantly, a good understanding of America's social and political culture. There, that does not sound like John McCain does it!

In one post you are accusing Powell of being a racist because he has endorsed Obama, and now you are talking about campaign contributions from overseas. This is a discussion bored for the exchange of ideas and not your fantasies

"Sadly,I think it is about race; and Powell probably has a guilty conscience about not finishing the job in Gulf War 1."
coulrophobic: inferred that Colin Powell decision was about race. If you are saying that his decision was based on race then you are saying he is a racist.

A few years ago when he was out there kicking ass in the gulf he was a hero and an highly educated man, now Colin Powell is being called a racist because he has endorsed Senator Obama. That his decision is typical of the lack of sophistication of most blacks who will vote for a candidate because they don't really understand the issues. It is amazing how low some people will go to disparage another. A man the statue of Colin Powell don't need to explain to anyone his decision. He is a hell of a lot more qualified than John McCain.

I reckon Bush is going to come out pretty soon and endorse Obama.hahah
The selection of Palin for VP is rooted in the Republican fantasy for nostalgia, a desire to reach into the past and re-establish those archaic values that discerning Americans are seeking to outgrow. It is in every sense backward looking in a world that is increasingly wanting to define itself through acceptance, inclusion and dialog rather than narrow ideals and conventions.
What Powell is saying is, (a man with an incredible record in diplomacy and military matters) is that the wold would be better off and more peaceful with an Obama presidency.
Powell is no doubt saying that we should past the torch to a new generation of leadership, with a capacity to view America's interest from a new prospective. To a man whose history and future will not be beholden to special interest, the oil companies, beer tycoons or for that matter an unjust war that has long been assigned to the annals of a path to be avoided.

slappayuki: Where have you been? Mr Powell came out a few hours ago and categorically endorsed and indicated that he will be voting for Obama. You just can get it any clearer that than.
Powell said that he was put off by McCain's campaign strategy, their pathetic attempt to run an election on the basis of Muslim and non Muslim, which is the kind of image we should not be sending to the world. That there are far more important issues than the so called links to Bill Ayers, and that a McCain Administration would simple be a continuation of a conservative agènda, which has not serve us well in the last 8 years.

The Brits are known for their lousy behavior abroad. Their soccer fans are a case in point. Although it is given a low priority in Australia it still happens and most of those who are caught tend to be British backpackers.

There is plenty a 46 year old would want from a 20 year old especially in Japan. The dysfunction is more linked to the guys knife point approach to solving his problems, rather than the relationship with a younger woman. Most men that I know would not bark at the chance of having a younger wife, girlfriend or lover if they could.
