Yes it is McCain to the rescue. It is a bit like going to Dodge City to clean it up, right! And having this 'awesome' reputation as a maverick everyone would just be happy to see him. Well the reality is that they had some kind of a tentative deal before he arrived. My view is that McCain loss it yelled profanities at a few people as he normally does and contributed to depth-charging what ever agreement they had. McCain is yesterdays man, he reminds me of the former FBI director Hoover without the frocks. Suspend his campaign! That is just a joke, how stupid does he think people are, then again it is America.

The Republicans are trying to find a way to blame the Democrats. If you listened to Fox News you would think that Obama had a personal hand in the entire financial crisis.
Meanwhile, McCain continues to take credit for solving the economic crisis. However, someone neglected to tell McCain that the problem is still there and no decision has been made yet on the bailout proposal.

Sarge: Can you seriously name one country in Africa, where the US has seriously got involved in terms of providing financial assistance, and it has sensibly improved the material life of the citizens or even the local economy? The answer is zero. The US foreign policy as stated in the article is driven by the fear of Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. When you operate from a position of fear is is unlikely that your assessment of the situation is going to based on any rationality.

TheNewFed: McCain is the one who does not get it, also he talks about tactical and strategic and clearly don't understand that the surge was a tactical move rather than strategic. McCain is yesterdays man, his obsession with the past is only matched by his hard line approach to foreign policy which has undermined America's standing in the world. McCain view that he looks at Putin and see KGB is just patently stupid, it underscores his intention to return to a cold war situation which the rest of the world has essentially moved beyond. If we had followed Obama's plan we would not have been in Iraq in the first place and the focus would have rightly remain on Afghanistan.

i really don't understand this strategy of financial assistance to the big end of town. This is surely part of that festering trickle down economics brew principle that has failed to change the status quo.
It is the small people that ultimately supports the financial system, those small investors in their millions that buy stocks and shares. I would suspect that they are the ones who should be assisted in paying their mortgages helping to return some confidence to a system that has operated irresponsibly. Wall street is Only viable if it is supported from the bottom up.
The Government is simply awarding bad behavior in the financial system by assisting those companies that have operated well beyond their risk profile

Its about time somebody took on those community organizers who are out there helping the poor and powerless. Yes we should get rid of all those community organizers who are patrolling those disadvantaged neighborhoods, being the mediator between the poor and those who have the power to help, who needs them.

yes sure the war has been won. The US will be in Iraq for the next decade as long as those spineless Iraqi soldiers remain incapable to defending their own society.

The Bhutto family has been an albatross on the backs of the Pakistani people for years. They have raided the national treasury for their own purposes and did nothing to raise the living standards of the poor. Benazir Bhutto as head of state did nothing for the plight of women in her country. In fact, the rights of women were further curtailed under her leadership, where she did absolutely nothing to stop the practice of husbands burning their wives for simply not complying with their wishes. It is just another sad day in the history of Pakistan.

While it is one thing to be so obviously anti Chinese, it is another to simply blatantly fabricate the truth. I wish there were ways in which the writer of this article could be made to provide real evidence for his/her preposterous claims or face some kind of sanction.
This is just another example of the many phobias that the Japanese hold about foreigners in general. This week it is the Chinese next week it will most likely be the fledgling African community.

This woman Palin is no Hillery Clinton. To say that she will capture the women's vote in the same way that Hillery would undermines women in general

If you believe that a large chuck of women is going to vote for Palin, then might as well you accept the idea that pigs fly.
This is a woman that don't even have a passport; moreover she is advocating the teaching of creationist doctrines in school and categorically rejects a woman's right to choose.
Sarah "barracuda gun carrying" Palin is by all definition an anachronism representing a quantum leap back to the past.
