It is amazing how low the far right forces in America will go to undermine Obama's candidacy. The remark is always "there is something about him" or "i am sure there is something in his past that we will eventually discover" Now its his wife who is now being targeted with claims of using the word "whitey".
I suggest that at least 90% of all white Americans at some point would have used the "N" word at some time in their lives in conversations with their friends.

I am convinced the disdain started when they conjured up that arrogant slogan "shock and awe" to be unleashed on the Iraqis. Then it was followed up with Romsfeld statement about "old Europe". And that ridiculous display of the Commander and Chief landing on a carrier, declaring victory and an imminent end to the war. They have just behave like clowns all round.

Thats one way to end a problem. How about a one way ticket to the end of the line on the Shinkanzen, just make sure she has no money for the return trip and while she is gone quickly move house. That would have been better, well...would it.

Come on! I cant believe the audacity of the Russians to be preaching to the US about the virtues of economic management. We really have no idea what is actually taking place in Russia, the media is still very much controlled by the government, there is no real opposition and anyone who openly speak or campaign against the government is routinely arrested.

This notion of there being a glass ceiling for women in this campaign is ridiculous. Hillery was just a whisper away from the nomination, and lost because Obama ran a smarter campaign based on change rather than the singular inherent redundancy of experience.
Hillery started by advancing the idea of being a candidate with the requisite experience who just happens to be a woman. Now she is saying that being a woman somehow had impaired her campaign and women need to continue to fight in order to shatter this glass ceiling. If ever there was a full circle we have seen it in her speech. Out the door went experience a central platform and in came the disadvantage of being a woman.
We have seen what experience has brought us, the collective assumed know how and political longevity that is contained in the experience of Bush, Rumsfeld and Chaney has led us to the untenable position we are in day.
It is the concept of change that defeated Hillery. The Clinton machine essentially had no answer to the grass roots organizational ability that turned to the web, where Obama had secured most of his campaign funding thus establishing a new paradigm in raising funs for political campaigns.
What we are witnessing is a dramatic shift in American political ethos, one that is more about the people rather than established corporate interests that have shaped American political outcomes in the last century. Obama will be regarded in history as providing the impetus for this change. We will be talking about him 50 years from now as the father of a new political awareness in America.

WhiteHawk: I have looked well beyond the marketing and keenly examined the record of the last 8 yrs, and it revealed an administration that has failed on just about every front. It has made America a point of comical retort across the globe.
This notion about America being hated because it's there is patently paranoid. It is informed by a singular view that America's ideas somehow has preeminence over all others, and any opposition or dissent must be interpreted as anti-American. The rest of the world matters and so are its views. It matters because we have all been affected by America's leadership ineptitude for the last 8yrs, and for the sake of a better approach I suspect that the world is in every sense supporting an Obama's Presidency.
Whatever you may think of Obama he could do no worst than the current President. At least we know his platform is to end the war in Iraq, be more consultative with others in the world, reform a health care system (if you can call it that) that is morally bankrupt in its application.

That is the kind of Jurassic retort that gave rise to the arrogant and insensitive position that "if you are not with us you are against us". Now you are accusing Australians of being accommodative to terrorist and radical Islam. Why stop there? Why don't you extend your deranged pathology to include the idea of America attacking Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Italy because their citizens may have a different view of how the world should be organized.

usaexpat McCain will not serve two minutes as President . The world has moved on and so as the majority of those who will decide this race. It is a choice between the old perspective with a narrow vision of the world conjuring up enemies around every corner to be threatened into submission, against an inclusive approach that promotes a willingness to try different approaches to a long list of intractable challenges.

McCain is the classic bore. Listening to his speeches is akin to watching paint dry. And that dirty old man's grin of his make you want to keep him well away from your children. Yesterdays hero without a doubt, from the Jurassic

Being a POW really only qualifies you to speak as an ex POW. Moreover, we really don't know what went on there, we only have the word of McCain to go on, and of course he will no doubt lionize his alleged experiences and resistance. I contend that McCain is still in need of substantial debriefing from that experience. I have just seen his speech in that Katrina ravaged state, with that green background and only a couple of hundred people struggle to cheer him on, McCain was the youngest in the room, boring! Compare that with the Senator from Illinois speech with 20 thousand, its a movement, an event of great transforming significance, by all definition a President in the making.
