This is the best approach civilized in its application and progressive in its understanding of the human condition. I am glad that they have not resorted to the archaic American approach of incarceration as a solution

Regardless of what Karzai says he is not Afghanistan but rather a temporary representative. Th people of this war torn country will continue to exist long after he is gone. However, the international community has a responsibility to do all it can to relieve suffering in that country.
The Taliban and its treatment of women falls under that category of extreme human suffering. Even without the occurrence of of 9/11 the Taliban would have been a totally unacceptable regime in our modern world, and it would have been only a matter of time before they are confronted in some form or another.
NATO must continue to wage war against these men in Afghanistan who wants to return to the dark ages in terms of how they perceive the world and women.

Sarge keeps harping on about Obama's lack of military experience. The bulk of the American people don't really care. Knowing the right way to point a rifle is not the panacea for success as a leader. It is frankly not that important in a modern world.

bebert: I am not suggesting in cold blood, this would happen in defense of the vessel, and yes 45 sounds like a good number, and don't even attempt to recover the bodies just let them wash up on the shores of Somalia. Now if not would not be a deterrent then tell me what else would be.

HAHAHAH: What Israel dont understand is that the world no longer buy this crop about prison releases and the extent to which they are being generous and all that. Thats old hat, nobody respect those so called good will gestures any more. When it makes the news all it does is invoke yawns.
A real good will gesture is one that involves returning the dignity of the Palestinian people. Withdraw from the occupied territories, stop expanding their settlements on Palestinian land. Now there!

There will come a time in the future when all those who road the anti-Obama train will concede to a period of deep reflection. That their misgivings about the man was indeed born of fear, misinformation and prejudice. That at this time in world history providence has allowed the ascendancy of this most transforming figure. It could not have come at a more appropriate time.

VOR: Bush with all his executive experience could not deploy it in a way that helped anybody.
Alphaape: Moral statue in this case is concerned with the type of examples America set in the world. The extent to which it adheres to international laws and facilitate due process. Honoring the Geneva Convention is certainly something that most people would like to see reinstated as a corner stone of American foreign policy.
The Gitmo internments with its attendant torture have certainly made a mockery of the developed world system of justice and have largely been the source of moral condemnation for the Americans. This is what Obama wants to salvage. Who the hell cares about gay marriages which is a social construct that has nothing to do with morality. Marry who the hell you want!
President Obama just by his election has done more to salvage America's pathetic international reputation than any leader in modern times. Thats right he is going to save all your American asses from the current international ridicule you have experienced over that last 8 years.
I suggest that in 20 years from now all you anti Obama supporters will be telling your kids fat lies; About how you supported his campaign, and was resolute in the face of opposition to him bla bla bla. Again you all should be on bended knee each time his name is mentioned.

The reality is that Obama saved all your American asses from being an international clown. The reports are that Americans are now experiencing a new level of tolerance. No longer do people burst into uncontrolled laughter when they enter a room or their permanently raised voices are heard. Barack Obama has rescued America's pathetic international reputation by his share calm, intelligence and charisma. That is exactly what the world believes that is why he continues to garnish all that international support from Britain, France, Germany etc . Too bad for some of you he is a black man, you should all be on bended knees.

I don't know why some whites keep insisting that Obama will ruin everything. Be advised that it has already been ruined. Who could possibly do any worst than what has happened in the last 8 years. Mistakes by white politicians seem to be ok but if he happens to be black then there will be hell to pay. They need to take a chill pill, Obama is arguable the most capable politician the world has seen in the last 50 years.

My point is that racism lost the battle on that day. It was categorically defeated in that more people opted to make a decision based on the issues rather than race. A few more of these victories may one day win the war removing race as an issue in our society.
I believe that most but not all the opposition to Obama was race based. There were many who bought into the proposition that he was a Muslim and a Communist, allegations that were so far off the mark it had to spur the mind to contemplate the real motivation.

White America in my opinion has past the test. They have in overwhelming numbers rejected those jurassic notions of race and its inherent right to leadership.
For those cross burners and "n" word users. You will be defeated it is only a matter of time, the meteoroid is inbound.
