  I stepped out of the office with the intent of being gone an hour or so. A couple minutes later, I remembered that I had forgotten something from my bag, and when I came back to the office to get it, a coworker has happily rummaging through my bag, tossing its contents all over my desk. It took the coworker a few moments to realize I was behind them, when they looked up and saw everyone else in the room staring at me. I pardoned myself, reached over and retrieved the forgotten item from the pile and headed back out the door, telling myself this was just a natural cultural thing in Japan, that the coworker was trying to familiarize their self to me.

  I saw the exhibit at the British Museum last week. There was a disappointing lack of marine life inspiration, particularly in the tentacle-based division.

  This is exactly what I was thinking when I read the story. Who has what can be pigeonholed as a general job? Most professionals juggle multiple responsibilities that cover a variety of general professions.

  I haven't been for many years but always enjoyed Star Tours. For those not attracted to negative G or being suspended upside down 100 feet up in the air, it's a ride where you know you'll still have your lunch inside you afterwards.<

  But is this one of those hideous "3-D" rides that simply throws your chair around while projecting video of simulated movement?

  About half the people I go to parks with literally can't stomach those rides.

  They evidently cause severe motion sickness and nausea to some folk.

  Personally, they don't bother me at all. But I understand the concern of others.

  In the event that the Mayan Calendar does prove to be prophetic and the entire world becomes aware of it's impending doom on or before December 21, despite the fact that I'm scheduled to work, I might take half a day, maybe the whole day off and spend some extra time with my kids. I know we'd both love pizza and ice cream before our obliteration. Wouldn't you?

  *The films so far have been terrible, i love the books and think highly of them and JR 's writing but the films are lousy.

  The idea of bloating the Hobbit into three full feature films is ludicrous. But then i dont expect any films by Jackson to be at all decent. Hollywood is lousy at making films from books, especially good ones.*

  I agree with bassroll that the name of the inn (Kalacun) was revealed to isolate it from the other inns which need the school and holiday trade to survive. But I doubt the food poisoning was from chicken eggs or unwashed produce. It occurs more commonly with improperly stored or out-of-date food. I blame global warming, which allowed the inn to assume food stored unrefrigerated was as safely cooled as previous years. Let the haters hate.
