Now you've gone and hurt my feelings. This happened in LA, where we rednecks, who ALWAYS wait patiently in line, fear to tread.

What, you think the yakuza wants idiots who can't even pull off a bag theft successfully? They surely have higher standards for their recruits.

"POVERTY" written all over.
Well, that's an interesting point. I've visited a lot of places where people are poor, but in most, I haven't found such a lack of civilization and readiness to do violence as demonstrated in this article. Some places are much worse, of course, but I don't think it's the poverty itself that makes people this way. The violence had to be carefully fostered somehow...

Please don't insult the animals. How often do they pepper spray each other at Wal-mart?

This tragedy could have been prevented. Pepper spray face guards were just $9.99 in aisle seven.

Okay, I just don't know enough about this. Strontium 90 is a product of fission, and found in nuclear fallout. Strontium 89, as far as I can find out, is not. Why would there need to be co-occurrence if it came from Fukushima?

globalwatcher,
You're welcome, and I should correct my info a little. There were actually two quakes in Hiroshima this morning...one about 15-20 minutes after the one I linked. That one was a bit weaker. Rock and roll. Maybe Elvis is back.

globalwatcher,
The last Hiroshima quake is below. The one before it was around 6 magnitude.

This makes three strong, widely felt quakes this week, and there was a smaller widely felt quake in Hiroshima this morning. Haven't seen this much strong activity for a while. Stay safe, folks.

This one and the one near Hiroshima were felt over a big area...a little worrisome.

timeon,
Okay, I stand corrected. The surcharge seems lower than others, but it's there: http://www.koreanair.com/local/kr/ld/eng/ft/ne/20111011_81473.jsp

timeon,
That's weird, because I just did a fare comparison including Korean Air, and there was no surcharge, but as you say, the price was about the same whatever I did.

FYI: Korean Airlines, I think, offers fares without the fuel surcharge...maybe a few other airlines do as well, but I don't know. The surcharge, in any case, is linked to the Jet Fuel price, which is still pretty high, but not at record levels: http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=jet-fuel&months=60

I suggest genuine compassion, cooperation, and a desire to build a better future together are necessary steps toward a solution to our problems, and I just don't see any of that happening. Never mind what's happening in the Middle East... I'll guessing that sooner or later we'll go for a two-state solution ourselves...

Yeah, okay, I don't smoke, but in this century, when all the dangers are known, this kind of thing crosses the line of where the government should stop. A health warning is fine, but dictating the colors of the package is ridiculous.

I think there IS some ambiguity about the numbers. It's a mistake to confuse alcoholics with people who drink. Drinking is no problem from some, and a HUGE problem for others. The numbers above don't really demonstrate an increase in alcoholism among women, though perhaps there is support elsewhere in other data.
