Japan should avoid this, and the U.S. should not suggest it. Neither would be happy with this kind of agreement.

In the little town of Bethlehem, in a manger, there was a little boy and his parents, surrounded by lots and lots of electric lights, some of them on the Channukah bush, and maybe Kwanzaa cards were being exchanged. Sure, that works for me. Still, it seems like they should just leave the lights up and switch them on when they like, which seems to be around Thanksgiving or thereabouts.

Oh that old thing again! Next you'll be wanting people to go to courts, instead of conveniently learning the truth on TV. I think he could well be innocent, but I find myself in the enviable position of not really caring if he isn't. Pizza man for President! Sure. Fine. Whatever.

It's all a little too convenient that all this just happens to come out when Cain is running for office rather than long before, but I have to admit that the quote from Allred in Politico's article was pretty funny: "Mr. Cain instead decided to try to provide her with his idea of a stimulus package"

PS: I do wonder if that asteroid that's coming will have any effect on seismic events. They seem certain that it won't hit the Earth or the Moon, but it seems like something that big would have some effect on tides, seismic activity or the like. Maybe not, though.

Off Okinawa is right, and I find it absolutely hilarious that the US Geological Service is calling this a quake off the coast of Taiwan or some such nonsense.

This is almost as bad as CNN, which describes quakes that happen in Nagoya or Tohoku as being near Tokyo. They're right, in a global sense, I suppose, but you have to wonder if they use a real small globe with just a few cities on it.

Well, in the US, some cities let stores donate the excess goods to homeless shelters. In other cities, this is not allowed for health or insurance reasons.
Another possibility, in Japan, is to start a dumpster diving TV show ... it might catch on.

The thing is, there is no need to start from zero. There has been work done all over the world on ways to deal with radioactive waste. Get some help and do it correctly rather than let inexperienced people "do their best" and fail.

This isn't happy news. Burning stuff from northern Tohoku shouldn't be a big problem, but burning stuff from Fukushima is nuts. It would take quite some time to properly check tons of waste for radiation, and you know this just isn't going to happen, at least not after the cameras leave.

Yes, as I understand it, a decent hacker would not be so easily found. The attack could have come from anywhere. In fact, the fact that the server in China was so easily identified leads me to think that it DIDN'T come from there. Hacking is a global problem, and a global hobby.

I think the water was in fact from Fukushima, that it was very brave, and that it's good that he stands by his principles. I also think there has been no change in the number of people who believe that the water is safe to drink.

"...the detection of the gas was not believed to indicate a major problem. "
That's certainly true. Detection is no problem. Fission might possibly be a problem, though.
