Utrack, The first link you have is a map of power outages after the quake, I think. The second is a projection of fallout that is still unverified. Actually, that one does worry me a bit, because if it turns out to be correct, then parts of eastern Hokkaido, where the milk I've been drinking comes from, have been affected. It still is just a projection from wind patterns at this point, but I may change brands until there is more info..

Well, you know, there is probably some perfectly good food in Fukushima, and most likely, radiation didn't settle in every area. Still, the chances are pretty high that part of the food isn't okay, so why risk it? Confidence in the food supply is unlikely to be restored under the current system of testing, and raising the level of testing to a level that would assure confidence would probably raise the costs so high that it just wouldn't be worth doing. Sad but true, I think.

Well, it used to be a good show if you liked enka. Now it's a bad show if you like enka. I don't think much of the younger performers, with some exceptions, mostly because they don't fit the show, and I don't think non traditional, non-enka stuff really belongs there. The old show was well-put-together, had good sets, good coordination, and a sense of tradition, whether you liked the content or not. If they had kept the old style, they could have milked another twenty years out of the this show. Now I just don't know.... They're trying for a younger audience, but it isn't working.

Well, the customer asked, and the chef provided. Let's call it a no-fault decision, have the chef split the medical costs with the numb-lipped customer, and just call it a bad day. Maybe a free meal next time would be a nice gesture.

It was a nice day for marching today, and not too bad yesterday. Too many Korean dramas, too many American reruns, too many totally silly weather reports, too many game shows....where can I get a sign, please?

Because the Democrats are sending all their money to the Cain campaign, hoping he's the competition that Obama has to beat. Gingritch might have a chance if he gets himself together, but Cain doesn't, even without all this attention, and neither does Perry. Romney doesn't have the support of the fundamentalists, and noboby else is even in the same ballpark.

That's just an amazing number, and I have a hard time believing that, if it coming from rainwater, that Kashiwa is the only place with these kinds of values. Surely every ditch and gutter in Chiba would register a high level, even if it isn't THAT high? I just can't help but think there is some connection with the incinerator there, the one they finally stopped, last I heard, because the level of radiation was so high. Alternately, could there be a groundwater pollution problem, and the radiation is coming up OUT of the ground rather than falling onto it? I don't know, but I wish I didn't feel like only the citizens groups were the ones investigating.

Yes, lots of accusations, and no proof of anything or there would be a court case. I really don't like the man as a political candidate, but as I've said before, the timing, right before an election, is just too convenient. These days, if you offer a little money, people are willing to accuse anybody of anything. My guess is that this is the case here. If there is enough proof for a case, there should be a trial. If not, then this is most likely all nonsense paid for by somebody running against him..

So I wonder how Yoda's fronting of the adjective or prepositional phrase is represented when the movie is subtitled in Japanese. Do they "fix" the oddness, or represent it as is? Curious, I am.

I didn't switch to digital either. I did like NHK, and was paying the subscription, but I can do without it since there is really nothing else on that really suits my tastes. US TV doesn't seem much better these days - vampires, zombies, people with personal problems on talk shows, and a poor excuse for the news on almost all networks (CNN's self-promoting ads, like -"Go beyond borders" repeated a hundred times is like water torture). On the plus side, maybe people will take more walks, buy telescopes, or read more books...no really...it could happen.
