Cheney is a vicious two-faced lying dirt bag. The man has consistently proven himself to be one of the most incompetent self serving politicians in American history. He has led a once great country down the road to financial and economic ruin. He should be strung up and his corpse spat on. But, he's now on a book tour.

Put it this way: How do you know when Dick Cheney is lying?

    His lips are moving.

the rare earth angle is a good one. Could be Chinas way of cleverly forcing anyone building anything with an electric motor to do it in China.

However the reason that a lot of companies go overseas is little to do with common sense and more to do with old corporate warriors seeking one last adventure. Quiet a few of the decision makers in corporations go to China and are wowed by their potential partners. Lavish hotels, stunningly sexy translators, huge feasts and banquets to put King Brobdingnag to shame and they sell their country and people down the river in the blink of an eye. (and it often does make short term financial sense)

Regarding support for single mothers: Japan actually offers quite a number of services / financial support for single moms. Far exceeding America, for example. Problem is, you have to be quite motivated to jump through the bureaucratic hurdles required to get it. A fair few women who are (let's face it) dumb enough to get knocked up on a first date do not have the motivation and/or the kanji ability to do it (a lot of Japanese are effectively illiterate). However, those that do find many programs are available: work skills training, education (for child and parent) rent assistance, free daycare. But you do have to work for it.

I believe that one day soon the Japanese Govt. will be heralded as geniuses for pioneering zero growth stability. 25 years of no growth and a stagnant economy, yet, still doing quite well.

Unlikely she is alive. The base of the falls is a collection of massive boulders. So no miracle swan dives into a deep pool for her. Happens every couple of years. They put the fence up for a reason.

I took a look at one here in Japan. Key point is the leaf can quick charge to 80% in 20 mins. Not too bad. Quick visit to the restroom and a flip through a magazine and you're done.

Better yet, the sat-nav has an auto-trip planner which will ensure you make it safely to a charge point regardless of how long your trip is. These charge points being 7-11 stores and Nissan dealers. Pretty smooth.

With the one exception that the charge points are not exactly there yet............but they will be, provided pompus TV presenters don't scare everyone away.

I'm always perplexed by how weirdo loners fall in love with some abstract self imagined version of Japan.

Every few years you'll read about some nut job who does some horrible act with a samurai sword (chops his mother in half) and then mumbles on about "bushido" and "samurai spirit".

What is it about "japan" that attract nut jobs? Is it that no one really understands what it is about?? Even the Japanese! Leaving it open to personal interpretation, and thus fitting in wonderfully with the delusional's hopes and dreams??

The NKs are preposterous pompous preening buffoons. I really pity any diplomat who has to deal with them on a regular basis. Possibly the hardest part of the job (apart from thinking "must control fist of death") must be not laughing out loud when one of their outrageously big hatted, medal bedecked generals starts making nonsensical demands in that "Mars Attacks" voice they use.

    rakk rak rakk rak rak..

There's a thought! start playing Slim Whitman yodeling music at the meetings and see if their heads explode.

I can envision how that scenario is going down.....

Every single request for information or opinion from the Japanese side immediately becomes an "Ahh japan so very special culture" argument. And nothing gets gone.

And of course VW, being German, will decide to send in ze panzers to crush ze dissenting opinions.

Do you think they'd turn the sprinklers on for the kids to run through?? Do they even have sprinklers??? Seeing as most schools seem to maintain a dusty mini-desert for an athletics ground.

marialenit: In the balls? Won't kill you. Will hurt like there is no tomorrow, but won't kill you. It would have to be the mother-of-all ball kicks. Enough to damage internal organs. The sort of ball kick you'd expect from a highly trained Shaolin master.

I've always found it funny how "I/me/we/us" gets translated into "it" with machine translation.

"it rubs the lotion on its skin, it does this when its told". "it gets the islands returned to it when it does what it is told"

A real bummer that she, at age 24, topped herself. Very sad. In retrospect we can say that all the signs were there. (we just, as always, weren't listening) 1) Youngest child of 10. 2) Actress 3) Soft porn 4) Hostess. If EVER there were a check list for the psychotically needy. That would be it. I'll even bet her daddy didn't give her hugs as a child.
