From which side is the threat of attack coming? From Iran, actually, and for quite some…

No, public space means public space. There shouldn't be anti-smoking laws against smoking in the open…

I guess that private funeral is not going to be that private.
Only just recently Iran's laid out supposedly legal and religious justification for attacking and killing all…

If you don't think it matters then why is it in your comment?
I have reached the point where I basically now pay no attention to any comment by an American which contains either the terms "right wing" or "left wing". In American usage these terms have devolved into propaganda weapons that have no relation to their real meaning. Also pay no attention to anything from anybody who thinks Fox is a news channel.
A couple of points not in this article that deserve comment though. The actions of the people who were able to disarm the shooter, and also the young guy working as the congresswoman's aide who apparently was able to keep her alive with emergency first aid. Whether they were just acting on instinct or had managed to keep their heads in all the panic, it is at least good to see that some people act like real human beings still.

I now get Smith's PS comment. But from watching the game I don't think they have much offensive potential.

One of those "stuff happens" games that come up fairly regularly in soccer where the score has no relation to the play. I think only two real chances for Jor dan, and on one the defender put his foot out and deflected it in. So Japan should just move on and get ready for the next game, don't worry about this one.
Having said that, the finishing was terrible as usual, especially Okazaki's ridiculous header and Hasebe shooting wide. The mysterious striker / finishing problem continues, same as always.

Yes, I learned that earlier today. Not quite sure though why he was designated leader of the group if he was the leader in the first place.

I'm all for people being able to lead their private lives in peace, and for all we know this is just two nice people who have found their soul mate, etc.,etc. But they have to know the tabloids are going to eat this up. The age difference, when they met, the difference between their relative positions in the entertainment biz (she being much higher up obviously), her image and her looks, all that stuff. They better get used to it.
And how exactly can a dancer who doesn't sing become the "leader" of a group? Did that "designation" have anything to do with not being able to keep a lid on news of the relationship? An attempt to boost his image no doubt.

What is obvious is that they are two talking points designed to be repeated over and over again, which you guys duly did.
The idea that Obama is anti-business and needs "credibility with the business community" as the article says is just the usual political spin job dreamed up by the consulting hacks. It is designed to give him cover to continue the same allegedly "pro-business" policies that are running the US into the ground, and keep the Ponzi alive a little longer.

Well, it would be like...uh, this, wouldn't it. What exactly do you think they do this for? Originally that wasn't the motivation, but it is now. Now, myself, I think they are all completely nuts, but at least I understand that they are playing the game using their own scorecards, not yours. Whether they have the correct score is beside the point, the fact is they think they have the correct score. Brilliant strategic move to give them what they didn't have to start with.
The UK took an active and major role in the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq? If you want to argue that those invasions had nothing to do with 9/11 then you would have a point, but they took part in the invasions that were sold as being in response to 9/11.

The only way anybody can believe that bollocks is if they have a complete lack of understanding of the difference between what the market is in theory and what it is in reality. Rigged corporate socialism, with central bank and government subsidization of the corporations is not a "market" economy, and neither is a 30 year policy of creating money supply inflation by putting government into debt. Or do people really think the governmemt spends money to help out all those statist, collectivist, and progressive causes? Dream on. Wages and pay have in most fields have nothing to do with the value of the work, they are determined by access to the capital created through money supply inflation, and decision making power. Or the lack of it.
As for the old chestnut that the bottom third pay no income tax, that is not a sign of people getting a free ride. It is a sign of how incredibly screwed the USA economy is. One-third of the population has been bled dry, and there is nothing left to tax.
But the aspirational voter doesn't care about any of that, he just lives in the dreamworld thinking one day he can be rich too, and that nobody is out to bleed him dry.

Indeed it is. Wake me up when the Republicans do something about it instead of just talk about it. And when they admit that out of control spending started in 1980 and not 2008, and admit that government spending exists to support the rich and not those damn poor people sponging off all those hard working taxpayers. (Or maybe only I have noticed that when government debt and spending goes up the number of poor people and number of rich people both go UP, not down.)
Until they do all that, there is no reason to take them seriously or pay attention to anything they say.

No they aren't. They are determined to continue the kabuki theater where they claim that is what they want to do while they continue to do the opposite. Health care "reform" is a goldmine for private insurers, and they won't make any real changes. Government spending is being used to keep the US money supply from crashing and "wealth" from disappearing. They have no intention of doing anything about either, they just want the votes from the people who either aren't paying attention or those who are but are (justifiably) confused by the misdirection and magic tricks.
Code for continuing to act for their masters. Where is the Tea Party now? All the USA's problems come from one source, the fact that banks and the financial sector are not held accountable for their losses and the public is picking up the tab. The idea that not changing that system is the solution is insanity. But then fools never cut their losses, they always double down.

There sure are a lot of foiled attacks recently, seems to be almost daily news. I know the conspiracy theories claim these are staged and false flag events, but if you don't buy that (I don't) it seems the explanation must be that surveillance ability has reached unbelievable levels these days. Looks like communication is now completely monitored and filtered, and terrorists and would-be terrorists haven't yet figured out that they can't communicate by cell phone or internet anymore. Maybe the authorities are also getting tipped off, but electronic surveillance seems to be a more likely explanation.

I meant putting third world countries deep into debt and running them into the ground. Not justifying violence or anarchy, just saying that this economic "system" has now spread to the first world in Europe. The kind of stuff in this article is a predictable reaction to that, and it will probably increase and get worse.
That doesn't mean people should support sending letter bombs to embassies obviously, but it does mean we shouldn't just write this all off as the actions of nutcases. The actions themselves are nuts, but the underlying reasons that they are reacting to are pretty serious and spreading.

As opposed to right wing loonies? The problem is the loonies, not which wing they are on.
What is happening in some European countries is exactly what has been going on in the third world for decades. And it soon will be going on in every country, if it isn't already. Badsey, who I used to think when reading this site was a loony too, is the only poster here with any idea of what is going on. Don't be so smug folks, the outer edges of the Eurozone are just a testing ground to see how far people can be pushed.

Nobody says everything is caused by greenhouse gas emissions. And endlessly bringing up cycles, cycles, cycles, and solar activity, solar activity, solar activity over and over. WE GET IT!!! There are cycles and solar activity, everybody knows that.
Now how about the deniers and skeptics trying to get it. The question is is what happening now a deviation from what the climate would be otherwise. A deviation from the natural rate and / or direction of change, with all the cycles and solar activity etc.. Unbelievable that billions of people can not or pretend not to understand such a simple junior high school concept.

I didn't claim to know what is going on. You did. You said that you knew global warming is crap and BS because it is snowing somewhere. And you don't measure average temperature only by cherry picking the place where it is cold. You work out the average by taking all points together, a blizzard in the USA does not mean average world winter temps are not going up any more than a warm winter in Russia means they are going up.

He doesn't appear to understand the concept of averages either. I suggest a career as a professional roulette player. Also, you can have the coldest winter in one place because a general warming may be causing (or may not be) changes in air pressure, air flows, and currents etc. pushing the cold air to a different place. Or you can ignore all that and just look out your window or read the news and claim that you know what is going on.

OTHER people may have stepped out into the crosswalk. Not talking about the victims on the sidewalk. It is a possible explanation for how the driver ended up on the sidewalk, not a defense of reckless driving.
As for why can't you just walk if your light is green, isn't the answer obvious?
