    okimike,

perhaps the societies where these companies operate & MAKE THEIR $$$ shud do likewise & REAM the hell out of corporate thieves who mostly take take take, its a 2way street pal, if the companies dont like then they can get the hell out. Might be kinda hard for them to find a country willing to let them roost with your kinda attitude, if thats it, then screw them!

its about time people realize a lot of the debris will need to be dealt with locally for the most part, time to get creative, even the stuff thats not radioactive is likely a mix of everything under the sun, wood, steel, gasoline, oil, chemicals etc etc all mixed together, awful stuff, but the solution unfortunately os to deal with it a close as possible to its source.

Far too many are decrepid places that shud be shuttered & owners jailed, far too many large animals made to live like some single in Tokyo, stupid beyond believe.

For some of the smaller animals SOME places are ok/good but still the majority are depressing places to visit. What ever you do if you up in the mountains or near onsens & you stumble onto some ""Zoo"" DO NOT GO IN, these are some of the sickest, sadiest places you will ever be.

Dont even get me started on pet shops, the vast majority of animals in Japan are treated like crap!

However, those of us who have worked hard, invested wisely and led moral lives have worked our way up to high income levels and we really don't have much to worry about in terms of ourselves

    j4p4n,

incorrect, if economies start to really crumble, ala along the lines of this article, it wont matter much if your bank book shows $1 or $1million, in other words things wud be quite chaotic & the norms wud no longer apply, we wud all be forced to start from scratch in what might literaly be free for all kind of world, think about it

Foxie is correct all these events just to collect $$$ then dump it in some box or the red cross is somewhat lame, how about some goals, to re-build a school, bridge, fix up a park for kids, etc etc.

Its too easy to just drop Y20,000 in a box at a station or elsewhere. While I think this is good, it wud be MUCH better to take that next step, like the woman who has been delivering rice for example, much better imo.

Give them their day in court

By all means, but that doesnt mean suspects shud be walking around free, there are at least 3-4 who shud be clearly BEHIND BARS awaiting trial, after all a fair bit of $$ was involved or so I heard

I work in the freight biz & fuel surcharges for cargo are around Y70-95/kg for nearby destinations, going to LON or NYC wud be around Y100-130/kg roughly, these surcharges are updated every 2wks, but have been in these ranges for a while.

So lets say we all weighed 100kgs(obviously thats high) for costing purposes, at the highest rate that wud be a fuel charge of around Y13,000.............. not that big of a deal.

While cargo & passengers require different handling prior to flying away, once airborne weight is weight.........clearly the worlds airlines are playing with fares to try to entice us on board, a substantial portion of our fares are now being called fuel surcharges, its flat out lieing!

Govts need to kick some airline arses. While I understand the need & rational for fuel surcharges, the airlines have corrupted that need & mixing it around with their damned marketing etc, its wrong, its highly decieving & shud be outlawed plain & simple!
