US car makers blew in the 70s-80s, they refused to get INTO Japan in a serious way, no dealers, no parts inventory etc, & the locals are superb at brainwashing the Japan made = good, foreign made = NOT good, in more than just cars.
And here we are. I doubt US makers will do much now as Japan is in decline, it just isnt worth the bother now, we see how foreign oil refiners are getting out, selling, closing down, the writing is on the wall. Plus other countries are easier to deal with so why butt yr head in Japan.
Having said that & because Japan status/power is seriously heading south you will see other countries take a firmer stand with Japan where 20yrs ago they wudnt dare, frankly its incredible to see how far Japan has fallen since I landed here.

the reason Japan buys those big ticket items is because they dont make their own, except some parts, so they buy from the US, partly to fend off criticism, & because they need the stuff.
Look at grapefuits, imported, because Japan dont grow them, at least not in any quantitty I am aware off, but try selling apples.........

Well thankfully the stupid keystones did something after the 2nd strike or this little baby might have been having funeral!
There just seems to be too many young twits having babies that just shudnt be now or perhaps ever, too many stupid young males & females & this is the result, wonder what next weeks story will be, wudnt it be nice to hear something good instead of the idiots with kids stories so common since the new millenium started

timtak,
Seriously you need to learn the difference between doing good for your company & covering ones sorry BUTT!
We still have to chase the money trail from the Caymans on, you can bet it went somewhere, find out where & maybe we can find out just WHOSE losses were being repaid. For this to have been done under the cover of fraud leads me to lean towards some unsavory characters likely being involved who dont let losses run their natural course.
My $$ is organized crime is likely involved to at least some extent, because well, organised crime is pretty much into everything in Japan so seems logical to me.

Folks, one of the problems with pointing out the over stayers etc are breaking laws is the fact that Japan also lets these people in KNOWING full well some will overstay & work etc, its all part of how Japan "works". Then the keystones round up a few, kick them out etc & meanwhile immigration is letting more in, rinse & repeat.
The above isnt as bad or obvious like it was in the 90s but clearly this churning of illegals continues with knowledge of J-authorities

Jotter,
you must be new to these isles otherwise you wud know the authorities routinely lie & cover up deaths.
Not to long ago a sumotori was severely beaten to death, the beya & cops signed off on his death & they quickly wanted to cremate the body, to "help" the family. The family refused & demanded to see their son, after a fight they got their wish & got to see their sons battered body, there are countless reasons why one shud NEVER EVER trust the authorities in Japan, PERIOD.
