The sad fact with these Okinawa politicians is they are so wound up in the CIRCUS aspect that has been going on that even though they wont admit(or dont even realize) thats what floats their boat, they to me are mostly pretending to care about what happens, I think the last thing these mayor & governors want is for the circus to end so.........get this..............they simply have to do their job of running their cities etc.

Without the circus these politicians likely wudnt much like or even being in their current jobs.

pachinko is definitely a plague in this country, yeah if people cud show common sense but MANY cant, the financial damage to families caused by pachinko is huge, then toss in organized crime, keystones involvement, $$ sent to north korea, the noise pollution, all the abandoned joints, all the new ones being made

PACHINKO IS ONE HELL OF A MESS! and yes it is bigger than the auto industry, how messed up is that, VERY!

The revised plan get a few marines out of Okinawa, so in THEORY the locals shud be happy..........................but....

Then the US can just continue using Futenma, because the J-govt & Okinawa govts will just continue to bicker for decades on end, no one can make a decision so it seems the Yanks have kind of done it for them in such a way that it takes some of the wind outta the Okinawa govts sails.

Pretty smart move, now the US can carry on, do a little to help the Okinawans & I bet they just want to get onto day to day stuff & forget having to watch the locals waste their time away.

Posted in: What do you think of the revised plan to realign U.S. forces in Japan by sending some Marines to Guam, and rotating others to Australia, the Philippines, Hawaii and possibly Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture?

    crazed,

The very sad FACT is too much bullying in Japan is VERY MUCH accepted by the locals, no mistake about it IT is very much a part of being Japanese, its the dark side that everyone knows is there, participates in it, but doesnt want to admit its real.

I hope yr kids situation gets better, & makes her stronger

As with most stats they are AT LEAST off by an order of magnitude so at minimum these figures need to double, but sadly since bullying is so ingrained in japanese culture the sky is really the limit on this stuff, so if they are saying 200+ cases per day, my guess is in reality this isnt even close

    mabo,

really depends on the type of photography, I wudnt want to shoot sports or fast moving action without a mirror, the hybrid, digital viewers just aint up to the task, future will tell if it ever will be

    chris,

While I dont see DSLRs going away, I dont think yr graspng the concept here, losing the mirror allows for a smaller camera to be made due to the shorter distance between rear lens element & sensor.

What these new cameras are doing is like the great old rangefinder cameras did, their design allowed for much smaller camer and lenses, and while yr average shooter cud likely pick one or the other a pro or shutter bug wud likley have both systems as they each excel at different types of shooting, think discrete street shooting VS say sports or wildlife photography. This new Fuji wud be TERRIBLE for the later but pretty cool option for the former!

    Chris,

true mirror lockup is a great thing! but in order to make cameras SMALLER without the use of a mirror makers then shorten the lens/sensor distance, once thats done lenses designed for a different distance wont work on the newer camera.

I dont see DSLRs going away anytime soon there are so many shooting situations where they simply are better for the task at hand than say a smaller camera without a mirror, think like the classic SLR/Rangefinder type discussion to figure which is best for what task, imo they BOTH excel at certain tasks, but not others!

How so, are you saying without a mirror makers wud lengthen the distance between sensor & last rear lens element........................surely you jest as that wud make cameras BIGGER not smaller, think about it

actually YES they do when the lenses are designed for cameras with MIRRORS! There is this little issue about distance between the sensor & rear element of lenses that comes into play.

So when a mirror isnt there they can shorten that distance between rear lens element & sensor SO lenses designed to work with mirrors WONT work on a camera without a mirror because that distance is shortened!

what dont you care about the people of Okinawa?? There are many issues involved, those that only focus on one aspect tend to be of little practical help
