You are of course CORRECT, the photographer is always the most important pice of equipment, give the worlds "best" camera to a snap shooter & you will get run of the mill snaps, but give a "crappy" camera to someone who understands how aperature, shutter speeds & ISO fit together & can compose & they will win by a long shot.

Hey the main thing is to enjoy what yr doing when whip out whatever camera you happen to have!

    Smithinjpn,

ehhhhhhhhh, yes & no, while most people who take pictures dont know much about photography so they settle less, much less, they will like using their phones, & there are handy & fine to document stuff but are extremely limited for anyone who is a bit of a shutterbug.

here is a blurb that outlines a few of the issues involved http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/story/2011-12-20/digital-cameras-vs-smartphones/52127028/1

The simple truth is camera phones will NEVER have good lenses, simply cant be done, & maxing pixels after a point actualy degrades image quality if the sensor isnt big enough. Toss is things like focal lengths, poor (read large) aperatures, poor & slow focusing & cell phones wont be good except for run of the mill shots. Dont get me wrong they arent useless just are extremely limited in what they can do.

I think we will soon see camera's that can get online so you can upload etc, but I dont think cell phones will replace smaller cameras except for those who werent really into picture taking to begin with.

smartphone cameras are fine for small pics on yr computer but the sensors are way too small to compete even with smaller cameras, they wont be able to make decent prints bigger than a post card

OK a bit of video gaming fine, but like far too many it becomes part of the lives, how sad, this dude sounds like a perfect example of what NOT to be, he likely worked, ate/drank & slept for most of his life, retires & the tv is his best friend, how sad is that & now video palours to the rescue..........................what a crappy life, one far far too common on these isles.

More Japnese really need to take up some good hobbies all their lives so they have something to look forward to when they retire, what a waste

unfortunately, the experience of every Gaijin I've ever known is that, the only learning from mentioning whales or WW2 to Japanese, is the Gaijin learning that he/she actually doesn't have any Japanese friends.

    ODemon,

Sadly there is way more truth in that than many of us gaijin wud admit! Too many Japanese are way to hyper sensitive & are insanely quick to take offence(EVEN if they agree with you!)

to all those that neged me pls learn the difference between culture & say a trend, a handful of places that eat whales/dolphins doesnt NOT a culture make, simple truth

i do not agree with it but my mom explained to me that for japanese people it is very rude that western people are attacking them for something that was only thing able to eat during world war 2. some people simply can not break the old habit

Thank you for proving that whale meat ISNT about culture, it was a cheap source of protein after WWII, I believe I even read the US encouraged Japanese to eat back then.

So while there are some coastal areas that have eaten dolphin/whales the vast vast majority never really did EXCEPT after WWII, that doesnt make it culture unfortunately.

This is insane! I have been audited by the tax office here & I can tell when they show up they have done their research or can if wish, there is no way in hell this slimeballs banks have no records. When the tax guy showed at my home(insisted we must meet there), first thing he did was walk around my home taking notes, he was noting things they cud repo & sell if they choose to do so. And this was for a supposed random audit(which I learned there is NO such thing, so if you think yr getting random audit, think again yr being targeted plain & simple).

They had ALL our financial info on the mrs & me even accounts we both long forgot about, faced tons of questions going back at least 5yrs, was brutal & we hadnt done a damned thing! If I answered I dont know like this slimeball I probably wud have been hauled away in cuffs, & there is no way in hell you can gett away with having tons of cash & no explanation for how it came into ones possession, if you cant they can & likely wud confiscate it & then charge you.

This guy is dirty as hell, maybe I shud call the guy who audited me & ask him to do ozawa!

actually munya its not that complicated, birth, life, death, its all pretty straight forward once you have been around a few years, its religion & culture, govts that throw wrenches into it making it more ""complicated"" than it really is.

Thats not to say LIFE isnt easy or anything, but basically its all pretty simple, many people just make it complicated, some do it to control others, others to gain wealth, manipulate, etc etc

I suppose the hardest part is coming to grips that LIFE can be unfair, that sucks for sure.

Thats more deaths than the massive disasters of March 2011 & it repeats year after year & few seem to care at all, not news I know but its incredible that so many just dont care, just more evidence of our downward trajectory, there is no future here sadly
