I have millions of great memories from Yoyogi Park and thausends of families, young peeps, couples wouldn't have this great space offered in the center of Tokyo anymore if the Olympics are to happen here. Ishihara is a boring maggot who can just reconfigure the map of Tokyo for his own fame.

Japan has a high suicide rate, but not the highest in the World. But what is definitely unique about Japan, it is this strong desire to show it to the biggest amount of people (except the ones in the forest around Fuji-san, Kegon falls, Sakurajima...). Why do some of them need to do it in Tokyo-station, Ikebukuro or Shinjuku? While they can wait for the Shinkansen near Yamagata or Okayama?
Also, a friend of mine worked on this topic and wrote a dissertation about suicide in history, and he believes that killing yourself is easier than taking the decision of killing yourself. If you already have taken the decision, then you have the capacity of doing absolutely anything. And I don't think those "heroin-addicts/gloomy" blue lights won't change anything.

In Switzerland, the lefties and liberals granted the right to vote for foreigners on a local level (they can't vote on a federal level), and the result was funny: most foreigners voted for the right, or even far right.
I think that would be a great idea and shake the Japanese a little bit. A lot of Japanese don't vote, and it would be funny to see how the crowd would react when 99.99% of foreigners would vote for the kyousanto. The Japanese are one of the most uncompetitive people in the World: opening their borders and opportunities in the society for foreigners would definitely be a plus, as most of J-males are worthless lazy bums, a rough competition is what they need to get out of mommy's skirts. This is a great idea. This is just Darwin.

Unfortunately what is good for a country might not be good for another. Even though the Dutch legalized weed, their consumption is far less than France, Italy or UK. Apart from weed, it is a big no no.
And btw, I am sure pot is the exact thing that the japanese need. A lot of them would be more sociable and would quit chilling with AV, TV, pachinko, retarded music, extreme drunkness, cell phones and kabakyura.

They should definitely get rid of Tae Kwon Do, which was introced for the Seoul Olympics, so that the sore losers korean could at least get one medal. Replace it by KARATE. Rugby is fun to watch but a few countries kick some asses(like baseball), so I don't know if it's a good idea to pick it. I'd say squash is an excellent idea, in order to popularize this sport, because it is propably one radical and funny way to get in shape.

Many comments are pointing that a lot of crimes are not reported, which is, I guess, true.
In Western countries, danger is coming from people you don't know and you've never seen.
In Japan, you won't be stabbed by a stranger who wants your sneakers, but danger is in your house, from the drunk ojisan groping his granddaughter to the hysteric mother who slaughter her kid, because it's "too much too handle", etc... That's the old story that Japan is clean, safe, with a brutal undertone. You can line up as many koban as you can, all this hystery with those citizen patrol "to protect the kids" may continue, but Japan is defnitely having some issues when it's about family and relationships. They definitely are affectively handicaped.
Japan is a place made by and for japanese males, where they can do almost whatever they want as long as they follow the code. In Japan, pedophilia under certain aspects, public drunkness, racist comments and invading and raping half of a continent are not crimes; on the other hand, smoking pot is a form of social suicide. I could see many japanese male "expats" in Europe where they were so desperate for Kabukicho and Kabakura that they went depressed. Knowing that crimes are not reported is I guess a kind of agreement between japanese male citizen and japanese male policemen. Knowing that some foreigners are getting along with their women and that some chinese are actually better than them at saving money and that more and more J-Women are dynamic, crafty, english-speaking business women are just making them unsafe. They are just plain unsecure and those news about the starving ojiisan stealing an apple and the littering Chineses are just here to comfort them that whatever they do, whatever horrible "$+JT" they do, they are still the mighty homo japonicus.

Wow, that's one hell of an argument. As I said in my previous post, smacking kids should be done as an ultima ratio, when absolutely everything had been tried. Smacking a kid pretty much means you failed, but it has to be done if the kid's naughtiness is over the top. Japan and its monster parents is definitely the country that prolly spoil their kids the most: look at their young generation of me-me-me who cannot stand any contrariety. I was smacked about once a year by my mom when I was really naughty, and I am all fine today, and I am actually grateful to my mom. We smacked kids for 5000 years, and now we've been stopping giving them a rare but firm warning through smacking them since the past 20 years, we obvously see that just forbiding them to play with their playstation for one afternoon is not enough.
And by the way, I believe that parents who don't want to resort to any kind of physical punishment is somehow making an experience and are challenging themsleves, more than thinking about their kid. A lot of parents are just posers.

I am absolutely against it! Beating up your own children is insane. Children should grow up with love and kindness and not violence from their parents which lead to them hating their parents for the rest of their lives.
And we all know what children in Japan do to their parents after years of torment...
Be kind to your kids folks. You never know when you'll wake up to a kitchen knife staring you in the face.
I am sorry, but that's over the top.So you are for love, against hate? you like peace and you dislike war? Kids who are not disciplined are the ones who become a potential danger. Look at today japanese yound men: a generation of spoiled, angry weaklings, who were never told NO and who actually have absolutely no limit when it's about their little comfort. The fact is that very immature girls are bringing their kids alone because daddy is too busy having fun with his bucho. Those chicks take all the decision concerning the kid (that are usually wrong)and raise their kids as if it were a pet.Every single mother I've met in Japan spoil their kid and are pretty much beeing spat at in the process. I remember one of them saying: when my baby cries, I want to cry too...WTF!!! Resorting to appropriate and proportional violence must be used as an ultima ratio, of course. But, talking about Japan, a lot of "smack" and "spank" would have probably saved several lives, if you catch my drift.

Knowing that a somehow large part of the nutters in this country has a soft spot on foreign women, and that J-authorities sometimes, for some unknown reasons, let them get away with it, I think it is worth talking about this case. Google Issei Sagawa.
And hell yes we are concerned about this monster beeing, maybe, on the loose. Some J-Guys complained about how the British Medias handled this case. But from my experience, every single western and asian non-japanese lady who appeared to live or pass by this country were subject to assault. What is the proportion of male-female western foreigners living in Japan? You probably have a vague idea of this number and you also probably have a vague idea of what I mean. At the end of the day, yes, we need to care about this case: because I am sure that the J-authorities are waiting for this case beeing forgotten, and their investigation actually seems to continue in a proper japanese style: apologize, give your meishi and ask politely those gays in Kabukicho if they have seen a tall transvestite.
Lindsay's family should continue to fight, even though it must be so painful to deal with a lost daughter and to deal with those shady bureaucrats.
