personally prefer dramas based on reality/ real events, eg. HBO' Rome, Oz and Starz's Spartacus

Really? You think Spartacus had a single second of anything 'real' throughout its duration? Hey, I loved it... but not 'cos it was 'real'. Quite the opposite, actually...

I don't see why the government should be overly concerned about proving emergency communications to foreigners.

What about those of us who pay tax to the Japanese government? They have no responsibility to us...?

the government is requesting that foreigners be assigned a similar status to that of disabled persons

Well if that doesn't sum up Japan's 'tolerance' for foreigners, I really don't know what does. Let's face it, we are little more than pond life to them, an inconvenient fact of life that they have to deal with but would actually rather forget about.

He was not her "boyfriend", he was someone whom SHE HATED and WANTED DEAD. Once you read bwteen the lines and accept that he was not her "boyfriend" then the story makes sense.

He was her boyfriend and she hated him and wanted him dead. How does that work for you...?

Girl's got great legs. The movie is good, maybe a little bit too much of a TV 'movie-of-the-week' vibe, but a serious subject dealt with very intelligently. Recommended...

With the daily news barrage of parents killing their kids, I'm beginning to think that couples should have to go through psychiatric testing and a course in parenting before they should be allowed to have children. People need to take a driving course before they get a driver's license, why not the same for parenting?

I've been saying this for years. People seem to think having children is a right but not a responsibility. Time for people to have to earn the right to have a child. There are ways of doing this...but they all seem a little extreme. That being said, maybe it's time to fight fire with fire.

We cannot even allow the defendant to run away from his sin through the death penalty.

Now this is a sentiment that makes perfect sense to me. Give me the choice between a quick death and a lifetime - as long as it is actually a lifetime with no chance of parole - behind bars and I'd take the noose everytime...

My son's ALT was Sri Lankan. when he left, he was replaced with an Italian. Notice the trend here...?

Japanese schools are full of Japanese teachers who all learned their English out of text books but don't actually have a command of the English language. No other subject is treated in this manner, maths teachers have mathematical proficiency, science teachers have scientific proficiency...English teachers don't seem to matter in the same way.

Why is this news? A comment by a presidential candidate means nothing at this point.

Really? Maybe you're not fully up to speed with events, but that particular presidential candidate has serious momentum and is in the process of confounding all logic by making it seem like he has a very real chance of taking the top job in November. It'll be a bit too late to act surprised at that point...

Hey "sensei", the singer is almost 18. And, unlike other Japanese "idol" groups, BabyMetal's costumes are not sexy at all. So, you're harumphing up the wrong tree.

He's really not. Almost 18 means she's still a minor, right? In any case, I really had hoped that this would all blow itself out by now. Sadly doesn't seem to be the case and the cash cow will continue to be milked for a long while yet...
