    Japlan - Part of the problem is that Japan is over-populated. It's going to be painful in some ways but getting back to 80,000,000 or so from today's 127,000,000 should help to lead to a more human environment.

    Chinese and Koreans don't change the order of their names even in English. Japanese usually do. Kim, by the way, is more like a clan name than a family name.

    You guys who accept the Chinese Communists' version of Nanking .. do you also accept their version of how the Japanese were defeated? It was basically as a result of the Chinese and the entry of the Soviets into the conflict. Little mention of atomic bombs or America.

    I'm not one to carp. Atsuta shrine used to be of Owari-zukuri but in the 1890s they reconstructed it in the style of Ise Shrine. Am I the only person who visited before they did this?

    Two interesting documentaries on Pearl Harbor on NHK, last night and the night before. Those who assume NHK is only made up of right wingers might be surprised to know the content. Last night's one was asking why the Imperial Navy started this unwinnable war.

    Nonsense research. Learning to pronounce l and r as what bilingualism is all about? The bilingual ability of 18 month-olds and the bilingual ability of a 25-year old are in no way comparable.
