    Question,

You might want to look at this, about a British journalist who was set up by the rebels:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/9321068/Channel-4-journalist-Alex-Thomson-says-Syria-rebels-led-me-into-death-trap.html

Or this video showing a number of Syrians saying things we don't hear in the western media: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYKoycVz2MI&feature=BFa&list=UUpwvZwUam-URkxB7g4USKpg

First, Israel has not declared themselves a nuclear state.

That is the most...lets see... "unusual" excuse to not discuss Israel's undeclared nuclear weapons program.

Israel's history shows it acting like a country that is willing to work for peace.

You don't actually expect anyone to believe that, do you?

Iran's proposals to world powers useless

This article could have been half decent if it described what these proposals are.

"We will use all elements of American power to prevent Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon"

As far as I know, Iran has made it clear they are not interested in nuclear weapons, and the west has no evidence that they are pursuing it.

But Clinton said the Obama administration was 'in close consultation" with Israel over ways to increase the pressure on Tehran.

Why is the US "in close consultation with" (i.e., receiving orders from) a regime that has not signed the NPT, has secretly built a large nuclear weapons arsenal, and ignores international law in so many ways?

It is clear that they are financed, armed, trained, and given intelligence by other nations. And its clear they are pursuing foreign interests and they have no care whatsoever about the well-being of the Syrian people.

Whether there are or aren't foreigners actually doing the shooting in Syria is quite irrelevant; but I do suspect there are (many have made such claims).

The U.S. crew repeatedly attempted to warn the vessel’s operators to turn away from their deliberate approach.

How did they warn the vessel? I wouldn't be surprised if we end up finding out that they shot at the pleasure boat without any warning.

How would the US feel if a Russian or Chinese navy ship fire at and killed an American off the US coast?

And even if they did discuss these topics, Goldman, would you really expect some sort of outcome to your liking? I think not.

No, I just find interesting that everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room.

The government restricts access to the country by independent media, making verification of events difficult.

They allow RT News in to film and interview people. They produce many very informative and balanced reports.

I hope all the rebel terrorists are arrested and face justice for their crimes and then deported to where they came from.

Agreed, but I wouldn't be so kind...

[The last thing the rebels care about is the lives of the Syrian people.] This may be true. However, I believe the same may be said for the Assad government.

If that were true, he would just let the murderous rebels free to go around killing. Instead, he is trying hard to protect the Syrian people.

Sadly he went back on all that.

The same could be said about Obama. I bet Assad has more public support than Obama does.

That is a great part of the reason he finds himself in the position he is in today.

Not at al. Don't you read other people's posts. Someone posted a few days ago about America's plans to destroy the Assad government long before Assad talked of reforms.

And someone else provided a link describing how "a number of key figures in the Syrian opposition movement are long-term exiles who were receiving US government funding to undermine the Assad government"

above you made the claim that there were "lots" of protests against the NATO actions in Libya.

This is what you wrote just a couple of days ago. It is right above here. ...

Yes, it is right above here. If you bothered reading it you should have realized that:

    1. I did not write it.
    2. Your quote does not say anything about protests, as you had claimed.

BTW, that is another time I have caught you being wrong.

Au contraire. If anything, it is one more example of you wrongfully claiming some who disagrees with you is wrong.

If you believe this is all about Assad brutally cracking down on a home-grown peaceful protest, try to make you case

Funny that they have no plans to talk about Israel's nuclear weapon stockpile, or about their arming their nuclear subs with these nuclear weapons, or to encourage them to join the NPT.

How about if the Syrian military stayed clear of the towns and villages and turn on their leader and join the rebels and try a Coup d' etat and dispose this President and give the Syrian people their lives back.

The last thing the rebels care about is the lives of the Syrian people. Many of the innocent unarmed Syrians (including many children) that have been killed have been murdered by these so called rebels.

The countries who openly finance these murderers (aka rebels) are far from democratic themselves (e.g., Saudi Arabia). What intentions do they have. Why would they finance these killers? To give the Syrian people back their lives?!?!?!

For example, above you made the claim that there were "lots" of protests against the NATO actions in Libya

Nope, never claimed that. I guess that is what you meant by "let's make up a bunch of stuff, fling it at the wall and see how much sticks"

Chuck, nice find from the Guardian. Interesting article, I wonder what kind of excuse he/she will come up with to refute it, maybe just make fun of the author's name.

"Indeed, a number of key figures in the Syrian opposition movement are long-term exiles who were receiving US government funding to undermine the Assad government long before the Arab spring broke out."

[against the fighters coming in from Turkey] Again, they are coming back from Turkey. They originally went into Turkey from Syria.

Its not like they are returning home from a brief holiday in Turkey.

They are based in Turkey; that is where they are trained and armed, and that is where they return to seek shelter after they have killed a few Syrian citizens (including kids). So his/her comments were not necessarily wrong.

Maybe I've missed it, but has anyone provided any evidence that these rebels are a homegrown movement and that Assad's forces are only (or even mainly) killing innocent unarmed civilians?

The voting on the reforms presented by Assad were well received in the 80% range. I doubt if the western media even covered it and if they did, it was through the very, very biased opposition.

That does go against the totally unsubstantiated claims that Assad is just a maniac killing peaceful protesters.

    Israel would prefer Assad stay

Gee, how did Israeli weapons get into the hands of the rebels?

What you and others who do seem to be clearly pro-Assad do not realize is that upon making the large amount of unsubstantiated claims you make, people start to question where you are getting your information from and why you clearly have chosen one side and why you have chosen the side you have. You have not made your case yet, not by a long shot.

I have yet to see any of the anti-Assad posters substantiate any of their wild claims.

Nah, it's the repeated allegations that both of you refuse to substantiate.

I have yet to see any of the Anti-Assad posters substantiate anything. All they do is attack the messengers.

And I would like to see how anyone was "proved wrong". When did that happen?

I don't doubt that Afghanis want a better future, but I do doubt that this money is going to do that.

Agreed! Foreign aid is taking money from the poor people in rich nations and giving it to rich people in poor nations.
