Given the overall quality of native English teachers(in Japan), I'm sure non-native English speakers could do just as well or perhaps even a bit better of a job. It is probably a Japan/Asia problem because of their hiring standards(or lack there of).

The American people are going to be at the wrong of it. Democrats and Republicans have both started pandering to the lowest common demonstrators err denominators. The inevitable winner: lobbyists.

Generally I think 'dumbed down' politics should read 'partisan'. Both the far "left" and the far "right" equally dumb down what should be rational discourse to essentially kids fighting in the sand box. Sarah Palin and her chronic use of disinformation is one of those who leading America far from it's potential.

How would a 3rd party be anymore of disaster then the democrats and republicans? It's more then obivous that niether the Democrats or the Republicans, have any sort of clue as to what small government, fiscal conversatism, or proper management is and instead prefer to prostitute themselves out to the highest paying lobbyists. It's also clear that by listening to some of the more boisterous party faithful that neither party will be heading in the right direction anytime soon.

Is that to say that Republicans and Democrats both support subsidizing viagra for non-sex offenders? No wonder the US is almost broke, with priorities like that. No helping college students get better education but an old guy with ED (as long as his not sex offender) gets discounted viagra pills.

It's Australia, so it's probably related to Australia's indigenous population, consider that out of all the common wealth countries, they are the least progressive in dealing with their indigenous population.

I don't think it's cold-hearted, but I should qualify that mean aid in current form as it is given, I think that teaching farming/giving people farm equipment is ok, because then the population can live of the land. Give people food aid, they become dependent on food aid, their children become dependent on food aid, one couple has six children, instead two hungry people you have 8 hungry people. Multiply that by millions and when disaster strikes or world food stocks decrease, instead 2 million dying from hunger you have 8 million dying from hunger.

Easy enough answer;

Other then disaster relief, I don't think any government should being give away any aid, aid enables bigger and more unsustainable populations.

The english thing is a little strange but it is the international language. If look at Korean Riot police, the have Korean frist and then a big "Police" right below it, same as China. Looking for outrage where there isn't any.

He didn't prevent the shoe bomber, the shoe bomber prevented himself from being a terrorist by being an idiot. Why is it what the underwear bomber is considered a terror attack but what the shoe bomber did isn't consider a terror attack? Is it because he had a package beside his package? A little consistency is needed. Obama apologized for the underwear bomber, did Bush apologize for the shoe bomber?
On a side note, it's a sad time in the world when people are identified by what part of their clothing is explosive.

Like all things in life, a lot Japanese TV is horrible, some Japanese TV is bad, some Japanese TV is meh, some Japanese TV is alright, and a little bit of Japanese TV is very good. It seems though that absolutism is flavour of the thread, so perhaps I should post some imbecilic statement that tries to include as many stereotypes as possible.

Democrats and Rupublicans should both be facing more difficulties, both parties are filled with career politicians, who have no clue as to what the meanings of fiscal conservatism and management are. Changing from one party to the other is like voting for the same wolf but in different sheeps clothing.
