For those who don't know what or where it is, Saitama is a reservation on the northern outskirts of Tokyo.

We will probably never know for sure but my guess is SAS. However, the SBS could quite easily have done it too.

And is this so-called "sport" going to feature in the Olympic Games?

altria: Why should she not have a driving licence?

Anyway, to stay on topic, she should be in the schools promoting road safety to children and parents. Japanese parents, Japanese kids, Japanese pedestrians in general and, cyclists in Japan (note the careful wording) have the brains of a rocking horse when it come to road safety. The parents don't understand the meaning of the words and their kids never will.

As mentioned several times in the article, Colin Shea is indeed a veteran of the used vehicle business. Having been here in the business for so long there is little that he doesn't know so, get in touch with him and gain the benefit of his experience and save some money too.

"Even in regions where the eclipse was not visible, pregnant women were advised to stay behind curtains over a belief that the sun’s invisible rays would harm the fetus and the baby would be born with disfigurations, birthmarks or a congenital defect.

“My mother and aunts have called and told me stay in a darkened room with the curtains closed, lie in bed and chant prayers,” said Krati Jain, 24, who is expecting her first child, said in New Delhi."

Dear oh dear, how backward some parts of the world are.

Very sad indeed but begs the obvious question - why was someone with his condition living at home? The answer too is obvious - total lack of mental health care in this country.

also reminds me of a time many years ago when i was sitting on a seibu-ikebukuro line train, waiting for it to depart when i heard a loud shrieking sound in the distance, getting closer. a few seconds later i saw a fully grown man, leap-frogging down the platform, shrieking at the top of his voice. was the most bizarre sight i'd ever seen in my life. this city is packed full of screw-ups

So, from seeing a crazy guy "many years ago" you deduce the city is "packed full of screw-ups"? Strange logic indeed even given the case described in this report.

Fairly typical selection of comments from those who really do know about kids and those who so obviously don't. None of us were there so it is impossible to know exactly what happened. Not sure about what this means though - "where the belt of the handrail was being stored". Stored??

Of course they're already there but have to comply with a host of rules and regulations as to when and if they can open fire and/or chase the pirates back into Somali waters. Those rules need to be completely ignored or at least overturned PDQ, just get rid of the problem.

It really is time that the major world powers put their navy ships there to just blow these so-called pirates out of the water - end of problem. They forfeited any rights they may have had when they took up their profession.

Perfect, classy, awesome, boys will be boys? Has it not entered your minds that this was a fight between some yobs in a FAMILY restaurant with women and kids around? I hope that the police find time to pressure the injured where it hurts to get the names and then round up the rest of them.

Nothing in this story that you can't find out just by keeping your eyes open, I expected much more detail. Very disappointed, waste of screen and print space.
